finasteride - timing of sides/results?

Started finasteride a couple of weeks ago. Happy to report no issues at all so far. I have a few questions for you follicular aficionados...

1) when should I start hoping to get results? I know it can take a year but could I see results in 6 weeks? 3 months?

2) given I've had no sides at all - when do sides usually occur? Am I in the clear?

3) was getting my hair cut yesterday and was told that my scalp looks sunburnt - I may have inadvertently burnt it but could this be finasteride related? I've had issues with inflamed scalp before (I have nizoral shampoo but not used it for a while) and was hoping finasteride would help with this - could it be hurting it?

Thanks in advance.....

That's a good sign I guess. I would expect some results at least 6 months but obviously don't set your expectations too high, 9 months you should be really worried if you see no results

1. Probably at the very earliest 10 weeks but more likely at 6-8 months will be first signs (if you get any regrowth at all)

2. Sides usually occur at beginning so you are probably in the clear

3. sunburns happen without finasteride....

Thanks - wasn't suggesting finasteride caused sunburn, was wondering whether others had experienced an increase in scalp inflammation in the early stages of finasteride treatment

Good gosh yes, the itch and inflammation and general dryness has gotten worse on finasteride, not sure if BECAUSE of finasteride, i had the itch before it, but it got worse after. Nizoral seems to help with the itch. I started finasteride 1 month ago and had minor sides which are subsiding. If you didn't have sides yet, you probably wont.

Thanks - guess I had equated my red scalp to inflammation from the balding process, and so I thought it would get better with finasteride. That being said, I need to be patient......
