Finasteride Timeline

Hey everyone. So I just started cut up fincar and just know i'm going to be a good responder (trying to stay positive, just go with it). I know everyone's experience on finasteride is different, but I was hoping that, what with so many people here on finasteride, we could establish a rough sort of timeline. For example:

1. How long have you been on the medicine?

2. How many weeks till your loss slowed/stopped?

3. When was your first shed and how long did it last?

4. When, if ever, did you notice regrowth?

5. When, if ever, did you notice regrowth slowing/stopping?

I'm sure there are many other possibilities and perhaps this will lead nowhere quickly, but hoping you guys can help me know what to expect from the next few months of my life. Thanks!

1.one year

2.difficult to answer because of sheds,although first two weeks saw a significant decrease in loss

3.shed after the initial 2 weeks,lasted about a month,then shed from month 4-12.

4.regrowth or reversal of miniaturisation has been happening since month 3 or so

5.hair thickens every few months or so,whislt still shedding

i seem to shed lots but my hair never really gets thinner :hairy:

i dunno if that sounds confusing,but basically the finasteride is doing its job for me

Been on it for 4 months...
First three months seemed to be thickening hair/no hair falling out when I run hands through it.

Month four however my hair seemed to get so thin overnight and temples and frontal hairline receeded some 2 cms in a matter of weeks. No real noticeable 'shed' although hair is now A LOT thinner than 4 months ago and shitting it to be honest

2. How many weeks till your loss slowed/stopped? I completely stopped shedding after the first few days.

3. When was your first shed and how long did it last? I have never experienced a significant shed

4. When, if ever, did you notice regrowth? Noticeable vellus hairs after one month, regrowth after six months.

5. When, if ever, did you notice regrowth slowing/stopping? Regrowth on finasteride hit a wall after around 1.5 years, which is when I introduced minoxidil into my regimen.

3. slight increase (maybe just payed more attention) for 3 months
4. 6 months to maybe almost 2 years...
5. i guess i have not seen more "regrowth" bot the crown continued to thicken and grow more thicker hairs after 1 year

Slowed/stopped isn’t applicable, accelerated would be more appropriate.

3. When was your first shed and how long did it last?

Try my best not to notice fallen hairs, however, the aesthetic decline is apparent.

4. When, if ever, did you notice regrowth?

Still crossing my fingers, toes, arms, legs, eyes……

5. When, if ever, did you notice regrowth slowing/stopping?

Would give anything to be able to answer that one.

Since the beginning of May (5 1/2 months).

2. How many weeks till your loss slowed/stopped?

maybe 12-14 weeks.

3. When was your first shed and how long did it last?

Agressive shed between weeks 8-12.

4. When, if ever, did you notice regrowth?

There definetly is regrowth. Previously shed hairs from the hairline and crown are coming back. Also experiencing weird growth of eyebrows.

5. When, if ever, did you notice regrowth slowing/stopping?

Not yet at least. I`m hoping that it continues at this speed.

2. very first day (started minoxidil same time)
3. 3rd week, 2nd month, 3rd month, all lasted 2-3 days
4. 1st week, but did not contribute to hairline until 3rd month
5. new row of vellus just appeared last week

Thanks, i'm doing my best. Unfortunatly, because i'm a diffuse thinner, i'm not sure if hm will fix my problem, or even if i can afford it. Either way, trying to keep the negative thoughts out of my head. I hope this thread is helping other people, because its definatly helping me stay up. Thanks everyone!

12 Months (now 3 months on Avodart)

I wasn’t loosing. I didn’t loose for 15 years

3. When was your first shed and how long did it last?
I've never had a shed

4. When, if ever, did you notice regrowth?
Between 7 or 8 months

5. When, if ever, did you notice regrowth slowing/stopping?
Still growing, slowly, but still growing

1. I've been on for four and a half months
2. immediately no hair loss at all
3. No shed yet
4.by month two I had tons of new vellus on my hairline and on the center of scalp were I was balding the hair is now growing terminal
5. Not yet

2. 4 months i would say, it totally stops
3. No initial shed, it was same rate as before maybe a little more but not that much.
4. Slowly, but i have some regrowth at 6 months, with minoxydil and finasteride, still thickening. Close to reach the norwood 1 again , i'm 1.25 atm
5. I hope it will never slow

It was successful in ruining my sex life for 2 years (and still not 100% recovered) however.
