Finasteride, sperm count

The last few weeks i started obsessing about my hair again. Spending hours in the mirror looking for the next bit that would go etc. It was the closest that I came to taking finasteride. That was up until i read many sources and doctors saying that finasteride can quite commonly lower sperm count and fertility. Now I don't want kids any time soon but that for me was the final straw...i can't take a drug which can make me less fertile and possibly have other side effects just for my hair. So, keto shampoo and eventual baldness it is for me!

Ha.

I would honestly love nothing more to feel great about my hair but being realistic no treatment out there will ever work forever.. minoxidil keeps or regrowns thin, whispy hairs and propecia slows down the loss and sometimes regrows a bit until genetics win in the end anyway. And at what cost? It's all a risk isn't it. Hair doesn't have to make the man. But like i say i totally understand the desire to use drugs for hair loss.

Maybe they'll hurry up with hair cloning... that will be the only real cure.

Finasteride decreases Semen Volume too and its written under adverse effects of Finasteride in my book.

Ketoconazole is drug causing gyanacomastia,so be careful using it.

But even if used only as a shampoo? Does it get in thr bloodstream?

All drugs either used enteral or iv or topical goes into blood stream.Gyanacomastia is major side efect, please avoid it.
I am not saying that keaconazole will surely cause u gyanacomastia but its side effect profile for gyanacomastia is proven,so why take risk.
Our body are more important if u r hair goes away.

I did some reading about on this and found many sources statung that keto shampoo wouldn't be absorbed into the blood stream. This actually does seem a bit strange as things like testosterone gels are absorbed...but maybe it is to do with different types of fluid. I hope that keto shampoo is not absorbed into the blood anyway.

For me, no changes to my masculinity are worth it for hair...but I would still like that one weapon, if keto shampoo does any good.

pretty sure finasteride has more of chance to give you gyno then topical keto.

I would hope that is the case!

Again, i would love to be able to take finasteride, but when i read that it does (not can but does) lower sperm count then that for me was the end of that.

would u really consider having a kid while you are taking finasteride? If im in it for the long haul on finasteride, id definately take 2 months of being finasteride free before trying to conceive. The sperm count according to you does get lowered while ON finasteride, i dont think it should be a problem when you're off it.

So many issues to consider...

For one, I have read sources suggesting that it may not always go back to normal levels after stopping Secondly the fact that it lowers it ever shows to me that it is not a healthy drug for a man to take. Then you have the mental trauma of having catch up hair loss when you come off ot to try to conceive etc... which may not just be 2 months by the way...people try for kids for years sometimes.

I think lowering of sperm count is a massive 'side effect'.

Well if it was causing men to be unable to have kids it would have never passed fda approval

Well some treatment should never have been approved. finasteride is not one of these. It can happen that you may lose you manpower but that happens only in rare cases. There is medicine out there from which you can almost die as a side effect. The result justify the possible side effects. That is how it is.

My fertility doctor told me that finasteride has no effect on fertility. My sperm count, volume, and and mobility tested normal while on it. (It screws up my boners though :( )
