Finasteride Shedding: Two Questions

Two questions:

1. If you see thickening/regrowth, how common is it to experience shedding because of finasteride before any thickening/regrowth?

2. how do you tell the difference between permanent hair loss and a medication-induced shed?

My derm told me it's rare. Small percentage react bad to the meds. finasteride will stop the hair loss but thickening and regrowth are rare. Scalp itch and pain are a sign telogen affluvium. Hair drops at a faster rate in my opinion.

Rare? I thought a lot of guys here say shedding is normal. But yeah, many of us just continue losing hair at normal rates before finasteride shows any results I guess.

Yes a lot say it's normal. But everyone here has problems here. That's how I ended up here.

Is even thickening rare? Really? Anyone with inputs on this?
