Mine was the entire 11 months I was on finasteride.. hopefully it will come back one day.
There's three potential reasons for your back/sides hair loss:Just from my own experience so far, I don't think I ever shed when I was taking finasteride for the first 8/9 months. I switched to proscar 1.25 in november 2015 and ever since then have been shedding like a dog. I figure some of it was due to me quitting minoxidil, but I'm losing in areas where I never applied and also losing hair on the back/sides of my head which scare me. I've lost a great deal of density within these last few months all over my head. I figure this is either a real shed,Telogen Effluvium, or my male pattern baldness accelerating. I'll probably wait 2/3 more months before I switch to dutasteride.
^^ It was almost certainly quitting minoxidil, quitting minoxidil ulresults in nasty sheds. minoxidil doesn't just work on the areas its applied, it drips and circulates below the skin too.
I was back above baseline at about 3-4 months. I've had many sheds since. At one year, at 2 years, at 2 and a half years. Might be seasonal, seems to happen around spring.
