It has been a year and 2 months on generic Propecia(finasteride) 1 mg now and it has been pretty good. I am 20 years old and experienced no side effects. I would say I'm a Norwood 2 when i started, and I see baby hairs growing in my hairline. I notice a significant decrease in shedding until I want to say the last 2 weeks.

Maybe it's increased stressed from exams, but lately I have notice some more than normal shedding that has been going on. If I were to take a bath, about 12 hairs would float around in the bathtub. Currently I'm on break so I have been relaxing a bit, but the shedding has not stopped.

Do you think it's just a temporary thing where dead hair follicles just fall out, or maybe the generic distributing company ripped me off on some of the Finasteride shipment?

Thanks!

There are people on this forum who have been on finasteride for 8+ years. From what I understand the shedding comes and goes in cycles, so stick with it.

Are you using foam as well?

Nope, the only thing I use is Finasteride. I am unfamiliar with foam, is it worth using?

If you don't absolutely need it I'd recommend staying away - if you wanted to post some pics of your hair I'd be happy to offer an opinion. Rogaine has been on the market for years - it contains the active ingredient minoxidil which is known to regrow hair, possibly by increasing blood supply to the scalp.

Rogaine foam is a fairly new product that revolutionized the way minoxidil is applied to the scalp - with a convenient foam rather then a greasy, messy liquid. Many people apply foam to balding areas twice a day - I just apply it once before bed. As with propecia once you start you must continue to use it. Hope this helps!
