OK, I really need to understand. I will have hair transplant soon and the (very serious trustworthy) surgeon told me to take finasteride instead of Dutasteride. What do I risk if I take Dutasteride before hair transplant? Or I should rather ask : what is so wrong with dutasteride that the surgeon makes me take Finasteride instead?

Thanks for your help, because I want to take dutasteride but really not against what the surgeon said. Oh, and my dermatologist said she didn't know why but I should follow what the surgeon said. So I'm going on finasteride. but I want to know why.

ALWAYS trust your Dr. over what you read on a forum.

I was on finasteride for 3 years and it was fine. But I decided to switch to dutasteride because I can take a pill twice a week instead of everyday, more potent (blocks 2 dht), and I'll save money.

I've been on dutasteride for a year now and I have side effects due to it. Decreased libido, problem getting erection, and stomach cramp/pain.

Anyways, if I were you I'd try finasteride NOT dutasteride. I'm going to get off dutasteride within a month once I'm finish the pills. Maybe get back on finasteride or try my lousy luck on a topical like RUM.

dutasteride only makes sense if finasteride wasn't effective AND you didn't have any side effects from it...then you can consider dutasteride. But I think dutasteride is a little too potent.
