Finasteride on Early Thinning

So I'm still new to this problem and the reality of facing it. I had a physical today and got a prescription for finasteride, and I'm just wondering how much it will curb the problem? How long will it stall thinning/balding? What about combining it with DHT-blocking shampoo? Is it just slightly stalling the inevitable or is there the possibility that it will really make a change and maintain what I have if not outright improving it?

There is a high possibility that you can maintain whatever hair your have right now.
This was the case with myself anyways. I started taking it when I was 18 [21 now], and based on monthly hairline measurement (I.e., distance from temple peak to eyebrows), I've been able to main a distance of ~2.1 inches [from my eyebrows].
I use quite a fair bit of stuff though, so that something to keep in mind.
If you want regrowth, I would add minoxidil.

I think I'm gonna try destressing and eating better before I worry about regrowth, because it might just end up growing in thicker. Not to mention, insurance doesn't cover this stuff, and the finasteride was expensive, so hopefully that's all I'm gonna need

I used to use Merck Proscar, which I purchased for around $25 USD. Now i've switched to buying raw finasteride powder from a chemical distributer based in the US, from whom I purchased 2g for $80USD; around 2000 days worth.
I typically dissolve around 100mg [of finasteride] in 50ml of Ora-Sweet oral base-suspension (purchased from amazon), and dose around 1/2ml per day with an oral syringe. I keep the solution in the fridge along side various other concoctions I've crafted.

Also I'm looking it up and it says minoxidil can actually exacerbate hair loss. So using that can make it worse??

Yeah rogaine is a risk . I have most of my hair so i wont put it anywhere near my scalp. Im having trouble on Propecia with prostatis symptoms... So i think i gotta quit finasteride, so now idk what to do. I guess its back to saw palmetto types and viviscal...God help me

But with that said rogaine has helped people so i dont want to discount it totally, but for me ive choosen to stay away from it. I was scared to use Propecia for 2 years and very concerned about my hair and i tried all the natural crap instead of rogaine. So maybe im an idiot but ive seen it mess up some peoples hair online. Please dont take my word as gospel, im just telling you my truth and thoughts on it. It is fda approved for hair loss so it might work for you

As far as Propecia for thinning... It ll knock it out of the park! I f your body can tolerate it. My hair is already healthier in two months, but i have pretty substantial pelvic pain with no medical reason for it other than i started finasteride 2 months ago

Glad to hear that, mate.

On a side note, today I've learned that are several types of zinc out there. Seems like the "or state" one is the best - the body absorbs more.

That's pretty awesome. How do you go about getting that finasteride powder?

I ordered it through a chemical distributor. It's not controlled, which makes it a lot easier to acquire compared to other prescription medications.
