I took the time to watch a 30min youtube video on DHT and finsateride, and according to the video it is a moneymaking scam based on two research studies done many years ago? This is worrying me to say the least.

This video has been posted on this forum numerous times. I will just quote my previous reply to help avoid people getting confused with the BS presented in this video:
"The video states that lowering Prolactin is key in reversing androgentic alopecia. This is false, if this were true, then medicines such as Bromocriptine and Cabergoline would work well in male pattern baldness. They do not. Also, I have a family member with high prolactin and they have no hair loss while I do, and I do not have high prolactin. Prolactin may be able to inhibit hair growth somewhat, but it is not a main factor in androgentic alopecia and there is no study that states it is.
DHT has the strongest evidence behind it that it plays a major role in male pattern baldness. Obviously, there are most likely many other factors involved, but a sensitivity to DHT currently has the strongest backing of evidence."

People who have a 5-alpha reductase deficiency never get male pattern baldness. People who take Finasteride typically maintain or grow hair. People who take Dutasteride typically maintain or grow even more hair than on Finasteride. Claims similar to this video have been made on the internet time and time again. They are mostly false, sensitivity to DHT is a clear factor in male pattern baldness."

dht is not the main culprit its a cascade of effects that trigger Androgenetic Alopecia, thats why we got PGD2 inhibitors being trial'd right now which work even further downstream (probably).

Why do people always mention PGD2? From all evidence so far we dont know if its even as effective as finasteride. A small preliminary study with 87 people is not anywhere remotely in the ball park of the double blind 5 year finasteride phase 3 trial. PGD2 lacks evidence right now there are still questions where it fits in, and the details of what how it works.
Its laughable to compare 25 years real world results, 5 and 10 year large trial studies to the results we have so far on how well PGD2 drugs work. When we see the PGD2 results then we can talk about PGD2 once we know it works amazingly well.

I am unsure of what the process is for loss. I think it's a multi faceted issue. Likely, the reason nobody has a solution to the problem. I would imagine with stem cell and new technology, future generations could fix hair loss for good if you got money.

He says estrogen is bad yet the biggest regrow people get is when use topical estrogen?

A normal person sees the facts, and then starts to form a theory around them.

Conmen / shills / dumbasses invent a theory, and then twist facts to fit them in.

ALWAYS follow the empirical evidence.
