Finasteride+minoxidil Combo Working But Still Have The Dht Itch!

Hello guys Im a male who just turned 28 and started finasteride 1 mg about 4 months ago when I finally came to grips with the fact I have a receding hairline (about a Norwood 2.5 at the hairline. Crown is thinning but not as noticable). I started adding minoxidil 5% foam about 2 months ago. I've definitely responded to the treatment. After the first month it looked very thin and I almost stopped using it but I'm glad I didn't as it's grown in much thicker and my crown is completely filled in (although that wasn't as much of a problem as my hairline). Hairline I doubt will ever be restored but I'm thankful for what I still have

Anyway the issue is I still have the DHT itch. I'll wash my hair and the itch will go away but about 12-16 hours later the itch comes back in the usual male pattern baldness areas. It's very frustrating (and I am still losing hair. At least 20-30 strands when I take a shower). Things like lack of sleep and weather changes make it worse (have no clue why but they do!).

So what's going on and will I ever be cured of the DHT itch?

Thanks!

You're just like me I'm 28 and I lose 30 plus hairs In the shower and I have the itch it I'm just so worried to take finasteride because of the posable bad sides the people on here have told me the sides are very rare and I shouldn't worry whats your worst side effects you get

Ray i see you all over the forum, scared about starting finasteride, looking for people saying good thing about it etc.. I'm exactly in the same situation, except im 21, i know you already have it so my advice is: DO IT, don't let your dreams be dreams..

JUST

DO IT

Are you sure its DHT itch and not minoxidil?

I've been treating with finasteride + minoxidil foam for 3 years. I switched to liquid 2 months ago and now itching like mad.

Try using nizoral shampoo a few times a week. Anecdotally helps with scalp inflammation. Leave on scalp 5-10 minutes then rinse off, followed by a good conditioner because it fucks up your hair texture

If you're still losing hair after 6 months-1 year of finasteride then dutasteride is really the next logical step. I wouldn't pay attention to shedding so much. The thing to worry about is if you're actually visibly losing ground and density

Thanks I appreciate it! I will take a look at the shampoo. And yeah like I said it's confusing because I've actually had noticable hair regrowth and the density is thicker despite continuing to have the itch as well as losing 20-30 hairs in the shower.

If its working then carry on, the itch is just a small bump in the road, ride over it!

As others have said, as long as you aren't losing ground try not to worry about it too much. It may just be "normal" itching or itching caused by your minoxidil usage.

Just as an update the itchy scalp seems to have improved. I lose about 10-15 hairs in the shower now (keep in mind I wash my hair every other day so I'm not losing hair in the shower on the other days).
