finasteride claimed to be insufficient as a monotherapy for treating tumors. Phytoestrogens may be good candidates in combination with Finasteride.

Not hairloss related, but a good read for better understanding in how drugs like finasteride and dutasteride works on DHT and prostate cancer.

I didn't realise that DHT could be converted into a form of estrogen (page 8 of the link). That's interesting. Many posters say that one of the 'risks' of 5AR inhibitors is that T cannot be converted into DHT, therefore estrogen levels go up - and we know they do, from the studies and the finasteride/dutasteride product monographs. The idea that DHT itself can become an estrogen is eye-opening.

I have made post on this, the real reason for cancer in the prostate is.......

ESTROGEN!!!

You can still have all the DHT and if you take out the estrogen you rid the causing source of the cancer even with DHT level being raised.

There was a study where an aromatase inhibitor was used to treat BPH, which is similarly suspected of being 'caused' by increased estrogen. The AI raised DHT and decreased estrogen levels, but had no effect on the condition compared to placebo. Bryan has posted the study a few times.
