Finasteride For Aggressive Hair Loss

Has anyone seen or have knowledge I finasteride maintaining hair in a younger guy that’s forming a diffuse norwood 6 pattern. If a person is diffusing that badly is it even possible that finasteride can at least maintain the hair that’s left?

My coverup game is pretty strong, but I’m definitely diffusing hard in that pattern.

Also longer hair length=better option for diffuse thinners, prove me wrong

There are cases where some have recovered from NW3 at 19 years of age, which would imply that they have extremely aggressive hair loss considering their genes. So yes, I think that that someone with a NW6 pattern could recover. I've seen your hair though and I don't think you're thinning in a NW6 pattern.

Vertex hairloss is usually forward, and since you've been stressed out thinning on sides & back of the head might be Telogen Effluvium related considering your situation along with your family history of almost no balding men.

First photo shows thinning in the back, and other one shows thinning throughout my midscalp. I’m diffusing pretty deep. Of course these are photos of my hair at its worst (waking up and greasy) and I can style it in a way to cover a lot of the thinning.

But I’m definitely hiding a lot under that long hair, if I cut it short it would be extremely apparent.

But since I’m able to at least cover it in a way to make it less noticeable, if I can at least maintain for a few years it’d be a success

In theory, do you reckon we'll have an ability to remove FUE scars to the point of being able to shave?

I'd imagine they could punch out the scars , only this time with a shorter depth, then insert skin cells that are cultivated from your DNA to match skin tone.

Do you feel this is feasible at some point? That's been a serious question I've had for some time now. I just don't want to get FUE, only to have Tsuji come out 3yrs later.

Also, yes you are thinning NW6 territory.

Yeah, so I am thinning in a nw6. But aren’t there some responders who at least maintain on finasteride even if they’re thinning in this pattern? I’m not looking for miracles, but if I can manage this hair, I should be okay. It’s still slightly presentable with toppik

You should be alright with finasteride, anything under 1mg is out of the question though, factoring in your circumstances that is.

I’ve been on 1mg ED for the past 3 months. It’s gotten worse in that time. I know sometimes it takes a few months to stop shedding so I’m hoping on that. I have realistic expectations and don’t expect to get back to baseline, but if I can manage this and it doesn’t get much worse, I’ll cope.

Yeah of course, there are plenty of people with NW6 patterns that maintain/regrow. Infact most men with male pattern baldness have NW6 patterns, its the most common 'final norwood'. Your hair looks great with toppik. Keep up the finasteride, its still early days.

You were shedding prior to finasteride, or did finasteride itself induce shedding?

To be honest I wasn’t counting hairs before finasteride. I had some crown thinning that showed up very quickly before finasteride. Since hopping on finasteride I’ve thinned out a lot more. My guess/hope is I was shedding about the same or more before finasteride. I just keep reading stories of people who didn’t have a stop in shedding until 5 or 6 months in so that’s what I’m holding onto. I may lose less hairs in the shower now too. Not sure.

Thanks Andy, I’m going to stick with finasteride and see what happens. My stress levels may be coming down soon as well so hopefully that has an effect.

You could try dermarolling to remove the scars, it worked really well on my stretch marks. I have no idea why this is underscored, but I'm high on E right now and I love you guys, keep fighting the good fight boys!

Lesson to all, photos can be deceiving lolol

Unless I regrew...
Definitely a NW2. Your temples have receded quite a bit though so it looks a little worse than it actually is.

Thanks for the input. I’d be happy if I left my temples where they are. I just want some fkn density
