finasteride effectiveness on aggressive male pattern baldness?

Hi,
Just turned 20 two days ago, aggressive male pattern baldness, mainly in crown/vertex area (nw2 temples, heavy thinning crown/vertex). Father was nw6 at 23, and I am on the same path.

I've been reading alot lately and noticed that general results point towards finasteride having little to no effectiveness on aggressive male pattern baldness sufferers such as myself. I just got on finasteride about 3 weeks ago. I was wondering if I should switch to dutasteride right away, as I cannot afford to wait a full year to see if finasteride will have any effect.

Looking for thoughts/advice from aggressive male pattern baldness sufferers like myself! Again, destined for nw6 at 23. Not looking good.

Cheers
Dave

Give some more details on your self:
BMI - body mass index and fat percentage.
Did you made sex hormone tests before you started finasteride?

Finasteride is strong at treating Androgenetic Alopecia; though, if you legitimately have extremely aggressive male pattern baldness and you're losing hair fast, then you'll probably want to go for Dutasteride.

Hi,
BMI is normal (23). Fat percentage as well (15%). Sex hormones all normal, testosterone a little on the high side. male pattern baldness is extremely aggressive... Mom told me dad was NW6 a 23 and balding like me at this age (currently 20). Temples aren't that bad, norwood 1.75-2, but crown/vertex thinning is extremely aggressive.

most of the people who come on and post finasteride is not working for them haven't been on it long enough and are paranoid by shedding. finasteride works for 90% of people long term

Hope so. My scalp is easily visible at this point and I don't want to be greedy, just keep what I have. Thanks for all the responses
