Finasteride, Dutasteride, & Shedding Hairs

A lot of people online talk about shedding hairs after starting either finasteride or dutasteride, but I'm wondering why this is so.

I sort of get why minoxidil might cause shedding, as you're restarting the growth cycles of the hairs.
But why does inhibiting DHT cause hairs to shed?

Maybe somebody more knowledgeable can clue me in.

Pretty sure finasteide causes all you’re telogen hairs (hairs that were gonna shed anyways) to fall out prematurely so the anagen phase can begin to kick in. Not completely confident in my answer so I’d wait for another opinion also. Some people don’t even shed finasteride based on my understanding.

I thought that was what minoxidil did.
And that finasteride & dutasteride simply prevented DHT.
