hi guys

do either finasteride or dutasteride or both change the way the body regulates bones and tendons??

its just that ive devloped a bone/tendon injury since i recently started playing badminton, now, most of you know that badminton is a very low-risk game, so im surprised to pick up an injury. Before gettin on dutasteride, i had no sports injuries, despite playin a fair bit of soccer and doin some weight lifting.

since starting dutasteride 8 months ago, i havent dveloped any joint pains just except for this? could the two be related?

You can get an injury even if the sport is not very dangerous.

Tendonitis, for example, is a joint injury that happens unnoticed, it doesn´t need a hard impact to be developed. Even guitarist develope this injuries in their hands for playing continously.

With what you´r saying I cannot be more precise, but I would say that you probably got some form of tendonitis, becouse it´s produced by a repeated movement of the joint, not neccesarily harsh, that micro-damage the tendon producing an inflammation that doesn´t calm after the finish of the activity.

If you continue exercising pain continues increasing slowly over time, and if you force it you can break your weakened tendon.

If you are overweight or have thin arms and legs, or if you play a lot (even with not much effort) or don´t take proper rest you are prone to that.

Go to a doctor, first place, but in advance, I´ll tell you the usual cure they give to this: rest, ice and anti-inflammatories.

I know this becouse I play in a basket team and I been suffering from jumper´s knee since two years ago, and I have read about this and talk about it with some doctors.

finasteride doesn´t have nothing to do with it, for sure. It hurts me the same now that when I didn´t take finasteride.

I´m slowly recovering by now of this molesting pain, and what is curious is that MSM is beneficial for this matter as ot helps in the regeneration of the damaged tissues.

I learned it becouse I started taking it a week ago, and my knees seems to feel much less pain after training.

I hope it also works for hair!!

YES!

you are right on the mark. thats exactly what it is, cos when i eat anti inflammatories eg ibuprofen or diclofenac, the pain goes away. wats puzzling me is that i did rest the arm for an entire 3 weeks, yet the pain is still there. but its bearable.

thanks very much for your response, at least i feel at ease now knowing dutasteride doesnt have anything to do with it. i think the best way to proceed is to visit a physiotherapist and get a strengthening routine going.

thanks again Solo!

Yeah, visit the physioterapist, but be aware that this a disease (if you really have tendonitis, ask the doctor before) that doesn´t get better with routines or massages or similar things.

The only thing that really works is resting the tendon and controlling the inflammation.

I´ve been for two years suffering in my knees and nothing seemed to work.

I tolerated it becouse the pain only appeared after training/playing and didn´t affect my performance significantly. I put ice after, and take anti-inflammatories when pain was too much. But it continued

But this year it started to hurt when I was playing and I cannot tolerate it no longer. So the doctor told me that I have to cure this seriously or I was risking my tendon with a total breakage, so this summer I took total rest, did nothing in the entire summer.

Now I came back to training, and I put ice after every day. I take anti-inflammatories (600mg ibuprofen) three times everyday and started with MSM.

I try, between the day, to rest as much as possible, have good sleep and not going through many stairs (they are painful!!).

And (finally) with this serious routine I seem to be responding. This week has been the very first one in two years in wich I wake up and my knees didn´t hurt to me!!.

I just wanted to tell you my experience for you to be concious of this things:

-If you don´t cure it you will get worse.

-No response to regular strenghthening exercises.

-No response to heatening before/after playing.

-It needs continuous cares.

-You need continous medical advice, a doctor should be looking after your progress.

So, if you plan to keep playing and exercising, double up the attentions, becouse it´s a b**ch of an injury that can hurt you for a very long time, as I have experienced in myself.

Also try MSM, it´s said to be good for the joints and tendons, and I think it´s having an effect on me. Also some people reported it makes hair grow faster, stronger and shinier (I don´t know myself, it´s too soon), so I think you could be very interested in this supplement.

Good luck, mate!!
