Hey whats up evrybody. I ve been on finasteride for 4 and half months and i am starting to wonder if i suffer from reflex hyperandrogenicity . i noticed during my months on finasteride that my hair on my arms grew twice as long, hairs sprouted in shoulders and in general my body hair is coarser plus my scalp hair is still shedding. From what i ve read finasteride is supposed to thin body hair at least but the opposide happened to me which got me very worried that what i am going through is harming my hair than doing any good because of this reflex thing.
So i was wondering if anyone here has the same experience regarding body hair and if hair got better despite more body hair or stoped finasteride and things got better and was indeed hyperandrogenecity. I would really appreciate it if finasteride users share their experience if gone through similar situation and advice me if its wise to stop finasteride or not so i can put my mind to rest if i am having reflex hyper or not . :salut:

113 views and not a single reply wow. Anyway i had enough of this drug. Almost 5 months on it and my hairline is thined so much it became diffuse.i stdrted taking a pill to help my thining temples and my whole hairline thined especially at the center what an irony. I am still shedding after 5 months all over and not a single hair regrew back which is not normal at all. Also my brother today told me that my sides have thinned and he is right wtf. I know i was slowly loosing hair but hell not this fast its definetly made things worse especialy in the front and i dont have a reason to lie neither i am paranoid. As far as i can understand finasteride blocks only 40 % of scalp dht so you still have 60 % raping your follicles so that doesnt sound good. I am going to drop it since i dont see how things will get better after 5 months of loosing 50-100 hairs a day on finasteride. I will try some topical AA instead in hope that things will get back to baseline. well that was my journey with finasteride and not a good one

i've never heard of anyone having increased body hair from finasteride and i don't think "reflex hyperandrogenicity" is a real or medically recognised condition - it seems to be a term that only exist on the forums - probably created on propeciahelp.com

I had noticeably less body hair while on finasteride and it all came back after stopping it.

Every person is different and so is each follicle. It is proven that finasteride increases testosterone levels. Giannis maybe your body follicles grow more with testosterone attached to the receptors not DHT, and then maybe Casperz body follicles grow more with DHT attached to the receptor instead of testosterone. This is just a theory. Remember, a lot regarding hair loss is still a big mystery.
