I will be moving to Canada in a month's time and I am wondering about what options will I have. Could someone break it down for me: what antiandrogens are available (Propecia, Proscar, Finpecia, other generics), which ones require a prescription, what are the prices.

I am currently living in Europe and I'm trying to check whether I'll be better off getting my supplies from here or wait till I get to Canada.

Any help would be very appreciated!

I get my Finasteride (prescription) from the pharmacy here and it's $52 for a months supply, if you had a prescription for Proscar I'm told that it would bring down the cost significantly. I'm pretty sure that you can buy Rogaine without a prescription, but I'm not sure what the price is. You can get Rogaine or Monoxidil at any drugstore or Walmart. You can also just order them online to save money.

Welcome, I'm from Canada as well, where are you moving to?

Finasteride is available in all forms: brand name (Propecia / Proscar) or generic 1mg and 5mg versions. Propecia runs about $70/month and generic 1mg about $50/month.

Your best bet is to get a prescription for the 5mg version and get it generic at Costco or Walmart. I spend a little less than $100 for 100x 5mg generic pills, which lasts me for over a year when they are cut into quarters. If you aren't able to get a family doctor immediately (it can take some time, our healthcare system is currently a little overburdened) you can get it from a walk-in clinic.
