finasteride and oily scalp

A lot of people have noticed that when their hair loss starts that their scalp gets a lot greasier - this could be because of the DHT reacting with the hair follicles

So I was wondering if anyone has seen a reduction in the oiliness of their scalp once they started taking finasteride

the thing with that is most people have probably also started to use nizoral or t/sal or t/gel after starting on a treatment.... so unless it's from someone who is just on finasteride u probably wont get a reliable answer... if ur having problems i suggest u get on one or two of those shampoos as well.... it didn't cure me but they're helping

I didn't notice excessive scalp oiliness until a week after starting proscar. My head was very greasy for about two weeks. Eventually my scalp went back to normal. I think it was a temporary side effect of the finasteride that went away as my body got used to it. However, my scalp has been red and itchy since starting finasteride 7 months ago and that has yet to get better. Of course that may be the male pattern baldness...
