AFAIK there's never been a documented case of a baby being born with birth defects because the father was taking finasteride when it was conceived. It's simply a disclaimer they put on to cover their asses.

however, if you want to make absolutely sure, then stop taking finasteride around the time you conceive

Based on what?you talking about "problems" is too vague. If finasteride could cause downs syndrome we would all know about it mate. Are you planning a family?

not just down syndrom but i talk for all problem what can cause .. i think all of us think to have family one day and yes im planning ? for this i ask ?

I don't think finasteride can cause birth defects, but I have decided that I will go off the drug for 1-2 weeks prior to trying. I read somewhere that a developing baby boy needs a certain amount of DHT to properly develop his genitalia.

Anyone with healthy kids that did not go off finasteride? I would love to hear from you.

I'm sure there are many. I know that Spex had perfectly healthy children while using Finasteride.

It's vital that finasteride doesn't get transferred into a developing foetus/baby boy which is why the drug must be kept away from pregnant women and boys. It's possible that semen containing finasteride could be transferred during sex but I don't think there's ever been a case where this affected the baby. If anyone knows of any proven cases where this happened then please link to the info.

for total peace of mind then stop taking it temporarily. I think finasteride has a short half-life so it's out of your system within 24 hours or something - but don't quote me on that. Ask a doctor to confirm.

I have a son due to be born in the next few weeks, he was concieved while on finasteride everything is ok so far. I have discussed it with the doctors who say there is nothing to worry about. Im not partiularly concerned as I know other people who had kids while on finasteride without issues.

Started to use finasteride in 2004, had my son in 2007 and he is 100% healthy.
