Hi. I´m 40 yo.
when i was 27 I was going throught a bad time and I thought my hair was falling fast, i decided to take finasteride and minoxidil, after starting the treatment my hair loss became even bigger, I started to thin in the front specially when i started minoxidil.
After using these to products for a year or so and looking worse than when i started the treatment i quit because my wife wanted to have kids.
I have been without any treatments for the last 11 years, in the last year i started to see some faster falling and receding at the temples as well as some thinning in the front, the place i have thinning since the last treatment, so i decide to start the treatment again and this is what happend:
Started with finasteride 1 mgr everyday after 1 month the hair at the front looks much thinner, i thought that the male pattern baldness must be very agressive even I´m old guy and usually the evolution is less agresive in older men, anyway, I decided to add minoxidil 5% 1ml/12hrs, a week from the start, mayor shed, I said, keep going is just a shed and eventully you will look better.
After 5 month I had regrow most of what had gone away except in the middle front but continous shedding, so i quit minoxidil, hairloss decreases fast since I left minoxidil but my hair still does not look like before starting the treatment.
After 10 months I quit finasteride since my hair looks worse than when i Started, I left 3 weeks time before I start with dutasteride 0,5mg/24hrs(avodart):
After 2 weeks I satrted to shed, my hair looks really bad, similar to the shed i had with minoxidil, after 1 and a half month I get some gyno so i cut down to 0,5 EOD, the hair that has fallen starts coming back and hair looks better but still worse than a year a go when i started the treatment, My hair fllas much more than when i was not taking any medicines but since i know that what it counts is not how much falls but how much regrows I, m not worried about the fall if the hair looks better overall.
the side effect:
Less hair than befopre starting the treatmente but these could be just the regular progresion of my male pattern baldness
little decrease libido.
have no problem with erections but i do not wake up with an erection everyday like before, only the days after not taking the dutasteride.
I have also get little gyno, i have cut down to dutastride EOD to see if it get better, so far not getting worse but is only been a couple weeks since i lower the dose.
weith gain: 2 kilos, really hard to take them off even with workout than i do regualrly, swimming, bicycle, soccer, and some other sports that I do.
I use to feel tired all the time but that has got much better since i lower the dose, i do not know if it is because of that or just because it is a side efeect that goes away with time.
Dry skin.
mod changes but that could be because I´m obses with the hair loss and get angry easy.
