If dht triggers characteristics in men like increased body hair, male pattern baldness, and things like that then why did merk not get fda approval for finasteride as a hair removal type product? In theory finasteride should completely stop a man from getting back hair, chest hair, and other places that are not really considered good these days. So why did merk not get approval for that condition too?

Finasteride apparently is only insignificantly effective against body hair. I remember reading FDA transcripts about that during the approval process for finasteride, and there were discussions among the doctors over that issue. They were a bit puzzled why finasteride wasn't any more effective against body hair than what the studies appeared to indicate.

I don't think finasteride is good for body hair removal. It seems to just be anecdotal cases that vary widely from person to person. I've noticed a few dark hairs on the back of my arms haven't been growing in as thick and there are less of them (had about 10 on each arm, now 5-6 it seems).

My beard, however, seems thicker and faster growing than ever the past 2 months...

Well for me, I used to not have alot of hair to begin with (20 years, few chest hairs, little beard grow) but there was some on my belly, I lost like 80% of that.

Try removing the hair with a mens hair removal product or getting it waxed, After I did this is when I realized my body hair grew in much slower and thinner.

As a bodybuilder this was a huge plus and I dont hink using finasteride has hindered my gains in the gym at all as some people claim.

Seems between this and acne not going away with a type 1 inhibitor scientists do not know much about what dht does or what is going on with that. Oh well lets all take propecia for life and hope nothing bad happens.

I agree with this too. If I feel "weak" in the gym it is usually from not eating enough or just being tired mentally (a problem everyone has in the gym from time to time if you haven't been staying consistent)

I didn't have any performance issues in the gym while on finasteride but recently I have noticed that my muscles are a lot more tighter than when I was on finasteride[I haven't been working harder nor have I been taking any supplements].Oh BTW its nearly been twenty days since I stopped taking finasteride.

Did merck study the effects of finasteride on body hair after someone has a lot of it? or did they have someone use it before they developed any body hair to see if it prevented the growth of it? Most men get body hair so it seems like you could study whether or not finasteride prevented it verse actually removing it which might not work the same way kind of like regrowing hair verse prevention.

It's too anecdotal because we have no idea how much body hair you're going to have regardless of if you take finasteride and there is no way to know how much hair is prevented from taking finasteride.

Only a few people have lost a lot of body hair from it. I don't see why people care so much. It's a decent benefit I suppose if it keeps you from growing all sorts of back hair, but otherwise the effect seems minor if anything.
