come on. they injected dutasteride solution into the scalp :woot:

it just a short 12weeks test. even if it work, does it work topically or through getting into the blood steam and work internally?

i really have to take it with a tiny tiny pinch of salt.

i had the same kinda of curiosity question but it vanished
after i read the study again in details:

it definitely worked topically for the following reasons:

1) in the study they used 0.05% Dutasteride containing solution
(it means the total amount of Active Dutesteride Substance is 5 mg)
which was used During the whole time of the study 12 weeks (3month)

2) the Dutesteride application (mesotherapy injection) was done only once a week

if it worked internal (by systematic absorption)
that means u need only 5 mg of Dutesteride per 3 Months (12 weeks) ?
which is not the case

12 weeks is WAY TO SHORT to determine the effectivness of a treatment .

i had the same kinda of curiosity question but it vanished

it definitely worked topically for the following reasons:

they injected the solution in week 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 11. Each time they injected 1.5ml to 2ml of 0.05% dutasteride solution. which is equal to 0.75-1mg of dutasteride each injection. a total of 5.25mg to 7mg over this period of time.

considering 0.1mg of dutasteride per day orally have the effect of 5mg of finasteride daily. i don't see why the effect can't be internal with dutasteride long half-life. further more, it went directly into the blood steam which might mean less is been affected by disgestive system.

in the ending part they mention of testing serum DHT and test. also mention will evalutation for 24weeks will be better. which i think they should do it for the first test. it give better answer to everyone especially testing of serum DHT. of course they did mention no one complain of sexual side effect might offer a bit of hope. but even oral dutasteride, the case of side effect is pretty low. 5% if i recall correctly.

i not sure did they mention it, but the hair growth seem to be all over the scalp rather then the patch they tested? systematic effect in play?

even if it work. i doubt many of us will be interested in getting our scalp injected. some of the patient drop out due to pain :smack: or needing anaesthetic cream. ouch!!!
