its been done to the back teeth but i cant find anything directly related to my question. my proscar will arrive soon. my question as a scared 20yr old;

do i take 1/8ths or 1/6ths of the pill everyday for slow but gradual temple and frontal loss?

my ultimate aim is to maintain, but i woud like to think some regrowth is attainable. does such low dosages discount the idea of regrowth. as i understand maintainance can be achived on such low dosages but no regrowth. am i correct?

so is it to be 1/8ths or 1/6ths or even 1/4rs. intending on taking everyday instead of every other day.

sorry for the topic and please dont post that graph as i dont understand it.

It's easiest to quarter the proscar pills.

You can take 1/4 tab every day for 4 days - and then skip day 5 (don't take any proscar on day 5). That'd give you the equivilent of 1 mg per day.

Or you can take 1/4 tab every other day. They say that this .625 mg dosage is just slightly less effective.

Or you can take 1/2 tab every other day. They say that this .625 mg dosage is just slightly less effective.

Slichtly less effected? Where did you get this data?

In the FDA trials people did have success on lower doses. I personally think that it depends on how high your testosterone and DHT levels are combined with how tolerant your folicles are to DHT. If your DHT levels are reasonably low and you have slow male pattern baldness progression you might be able to get away with taking a low dose of finasteride. Likewise, if you have aggresive male pattern baldness and high testosterone and DHT levels you will most likely require higher doses. This could be why some people have success with finasteride and others don't. Some people might need really high doses for it to work.

The best thing to do is experiment. If you get sides on the usual dose of 1mg or are worried about taking it, try taking 0.5mg a day for a while and see how you get on. I think some people have even seen results on 0.25mg. Someone posted on here a little while ago who took 1.25mg every 2 days and they had significant regrowth.
