Final queries before I take finasteride for the first time

Hey everybody I just got a prescription for Proscar from my doctor but I just want to ask some last questions before I start to take it.

I am 20 years old and I just want to know if taking ONLY finasteride can really help me stop and hopefully thicken up some of the thinned out patches of hair I have (mostly on my hairline and crown). I'm not trying to magically lower my hairline by 3 inches or some other crazy stuff...I feel like the goal I have is pretty realistic. Let me show you some pictures of the progression of my troubled spots throughout the years.

October 2013:

April 2014 (hair at its very worst condition, very dry and thinning):

May 2014 (1 month of taking biotin supplements, hairline a bit better, crown no improvement):

MY GOAL: is to get my hairline back to what it was in the "October 2012" pic and make that crown of mine thicker so that I don't have to twirl the hairs around (so you can't see the thinning).

is this a realistic goal from just taking finasteride alone? it seems very realistic once I see the results from this guy from only finasteride http://www.hairlossexperiences.com/view_topic.php?id=2318&forum_id=38 and a lot of other people I've seen on different websites.

let me know what you think, thank you!

Last pic shows signs of slow receding, take action before it's more noticeable.

you don't have male pattern baldness, maybe a mature hairline

i promise you I do have the early stages. My hairline might be maturing yes but that's not what I'm referring to when I say I want to fix it. What I want to fix is the thinning of the hairline (you can see it especially in the april 2014 pictures. Also the picture is not the best lighting for the crown because if i just leave it normal you can see pretty bad thinning there too (my hair is just longer so I can cover it up well). Also my father is an NW5 so I want to be precautious.

with that being said is taking finasteride a good option so I can maintain (and possibly thicken up the hairline and crown)?

To answer your question, yes it is a realistic goal. You are catching and treating your hair loss early, so I would actually say you have a good chance to reverse it. Just don't expect miracles and think it will come back in 3 months. It may, but be prepared to give it a couple of years to work.

if u r jumping on fina jump on all the products bro, u r gonna need some regrowth to get ur 2012 hair back.. the only scary sides are from fina and if u r already decided to take fina why not use other **** like topical spironolactone, minoxidil, nizoral shampoo, azelaic acid maybe even that RU58841 if u can find legit..

im not worried about the sides but ill keep them in mind. also i already use nizoral and biotin supplements.. but im thinking why would I hop on all of the drastic stuff like minoxidil and all that other stuff.. i might as well use the easiest and best working treatments first and then hop on to more things if needed later in time

okay, do you think everyone that gets any improvement from finasteride HAS to go thru shedding? is it kinda just one of those things that differs from person to person? do you have to shed somewhat to get any kind of regrowth?

You probably do have male pattern baldness, honestly don't listen to most people on here.
I would just get on propecia, of course you know the risks.
