Hey guys,

New here, first post. Im 28, and im starting to lose my hair on my temples, receding hairline I guess. My dad has had pretty bad hair loss in the same area so I guess I was kind of expecting it. Iv been looking online for a solution. The drugs quite frankly scare me and I dont want to take them. So I was wondering what you guys thought the chances were of me fighting hair loss with minoxidil only? Is there any chance? Id love some regrowth but to be honest im happy with what I have, its really not that bad so even if I could just stop any more falling out id be happy.

Thanks for any opinions or info you guys might have, cheers.

Bro unless ur happy with the amount of hair your dad has then take minoxidil.. it could Def make ur hair better short term mayne a year or 2.. but once u stop ur def gonna notice a crazy amount of shedding

And no it won't do anything for the long run... it works for 1 or 2 year noticeably to its BEST responders

I've been on it religiously since lady October and I can't say I've seen any regrowth that matters but I just don't wanna drop it

I had poor results with minoxidil only. You should add in Nizoral shampoo. And a topical dht inhibitor for best results. If your not sold on starting something like finasteride/dutasteride or RU. Maybe look into: s5 cream/ revivogen combo or eucapil (fluridil).

Unless you use finasteride or dutasteride, you're fighting an uphill battle, and your chances of winning that battle over the long-term are vanishingly small.

minoxidil does nothing to actually treat male pattern baldness. All it does is artificially stimulates your follicles to grow hair, but all the while that minoxidil is doing this, your follicles are continuing to be destroyed by DHT, and when a follicle eventually becomes extensively damaged by DHT, minoxidil will not be able to stimulate artificial growth from that follicle any longer.

finasteride and dutasteride fight DHT, and as such, they treat the actual problem rather than just masking it. If you don't want to use finasteride or dutasteride, RU is probably the next best thing currently out there. The effectiveness of RU is very debatable, but in my opinion, it is the next best thing after finasteride or dutasteride. Everything else that's currently available (Nizoral, Topical spironolactone, Revivogen etc.) is all pretty much useless in my opinion.
