So within the past year I have noticed some thinning on my hairline thats gradually getting worse, at this point I would say Im between a nw1-nw2.
Its just beginning to be noticeable.. I'll try and post pics soon.

I just recently decided to start taking 1mg of finpecia daily, along with 1% Nizoral 3-4 times weekly. I have been reading so many posts about how propecia made their hairlines worse, or it caused an indefinite shed even after nearly a year. This concerns me, I have only been on it for about 2 weeks, but now I'm afraid I'm going to start noticing my already receding hairline start to fade towards the back of my head.. Its really bothering me, I am only 20 and have been dreading this day for years (long history of male pattern baldness on my fathers side). I was really optomistic about this treatment at first, but now I'm hearing all these horror stories. It seems that this regimen may just make things worse, I cant win. Damned if I do, damned if I dont.. I cant afford to lose any more hair before it becomes real noticeable, but it seems its out of my hands.
Im literally scared, I cannot go bald.. god damn, I'd do anything at this point.. :lost:

Hey,

If I was you I would go see a doctor and confirm male pattern baldness and then see how treatment goes.

I have been on propicia for 2 months now and have had no bad affects yet.

fun

I wouldnt pay attention to half the yahoo's on this site who post about their results. Many of them are off and on Propecia or take the wrong dosage etc. Bottom line is they are not CONSISTANT.

If you take it religiously, (I reccommend in the morning before breakfast on an empty stomach) every day then there is no reason why you cant get some great results after 12 months. Your hairline will look better on it than off it believe me.

hey I know how u feel, im 20 and i was the same as you, always dreading the day my hair would fall out cos of the family history.... so i thought i would lose it early like at 25 onwards.... lol! but 20! didnt expect that.
And yeh its very upsetting when you first realise, i was literally crying when i cut my hair and saw how bad it was, cos i was realy depressed... but u will get over it, its not worth getting upset about... i feel a bit silly when i think back now, its just hair.... although thats not gonna stop me trying everything i can to grow it back or at least keep what i got.... may as well try everything

Ive been on fincar for about 3 weeks now... i thought i was having some sexual side affects, but that was just something else, mostly stuff in my head... but everything is fine. Ive started noticing some shedding of all the fine short hairs on my head.... if i rub my hands through over my desk only the hairs that are thinner and shorter than my main length of hair are coming out which is what needs to happen so they can grow back as thick as the rest.

The thing is with people who say finasteride made there hair worse is how do they know that there hair wudnt have fallen out just as much over a certain period if they werent on finasteride? Yeh its true that finasteride doesnt work on some people, so if finasteride doesnt work, then ur hair is just gonna carry on falling out.... so does that mean the finasteride is making it fall out? no.... just means its doing nothing.

The side effects are over exaggerated i think... also, if you really believe that ur gonna have side effects, then you probably will.... thats just how ur head works...

Good luck

Thanks guys

Well, no real bad side effects yet.. Im not at all tired, and still Horny as hell. Maybe some acne,
but I already suffer from that bullshit regardless so I'm not worried in that aspect of it..

I'm really just doubting this whole thing.. Every once in a while someone takes to the meds,
but to see a real success story on these forums is rare.. I would love to be one of those guys who are
an inspiration to other balding dudes seeking treatment down the road. But the reality is that I'll be lucky
to keep some of what I have I think.

Nevertheless, I will stick to my regimen of 1 mg a day, perhaps even throw in some minoxidil foam or something.. i dunno yet

hey switch, no fears man, propecia has worked wonders for me. i'd highly suggest adding minoxidil foam on the temples to combat loss there as propecia doesn't help much with that area. keep taking your pill each day and applying foam once a day to the hairline - and forget about it - that's all you can do. try not to think too much about it day to day - takes 6+ months to really show results. however, i can say from my experience i noticed my hair stop falling out pretty much day 1 after starting propecia.
