Hey guys, its been almost 6 months on finasteride now and i ready to throw in the towel. When i started i had a bit of recession at the temples and thats it. At this point (only 6 months later) I have serious recession in the temples and the begginning of a bald spot on my crown. My hair has never looked this bad and I am really down about it. My hair has been shedding like crazy over the past 3 weeks destroying my hairline. I am 19 years old and feel like sh*t about this. It is so disheartining to go out and see friends I haven't seen in a few months. I am sure they notice the balding. Just a year ago balding had never crossed my mind, and I was totally confident pulling top notch broads. Now my confidence is shot, and I am feelin down about sh*t.

Hey Tommy2t... I hear you, man. Many of us have been there too.

Don't get discouraged so soon. Remember, that hair that is recently lost are the hairs that have the highest possibility of being regrown to their full glory. Think where you would have been if you didn't take any action until right now! At least you have several months' worth of finasteride in you, beginning to infiltrate your system do its thing.

This is a roller coaster ride for all of us. Hold on for a year, and I'm not counting that finasteride kool aid that your 'family Doctor' had you on in the beginning! :D

As for your friends, you just have to keep on walking tall. Keep your head up, and don't let it change your personality. If anyone notices or says something, just act like you are aware of it but don't see any problems. Act like you think it is a minor thing. 99.9% of the time, people take their cues from YOUR actions when determining how to RE-act to you. If you act down or in the dumps about it, the wolves will circle.

Try to keep some perspective on it. Your hair is showing some signs of ageing, and EVERYONE at your age will show one sign of ageing or another... or have other issues in their life that they worry about. At least your issue is, statistically speaking, treatable given the relatively early stage at which you have caught it. Stay positive, and keep your mind thinking positively, even if your heart might not completely agree. Hang in there!

hey man, hair loss f*****g sucks. and no one else truly understands that but people like us. if you feel like bitching about it, being pissed at the slow progression of the treatments, or just want to say that you hate whatever god you believe in, PM me, or keep ranting on this site if it helps, i know it helps me. chances are I've felt the exact same way you do at one point or another. i go through stages like that all the time man, i went through one this morning actually where i was so sure treatments weren't working cause i caught a bad mirror. plus, we're in the same stage of treatment (i'm 6.25 months in), so i know about feeling like you've been waiting long enough to get some results. like gardener said, keep your head high man, hold on to the positive thoughts that you have, and give that propecia a year.

i don't know if this will help you or not, but i resort to this when things are looking down for me. good ol' HairLossTalk.com, whom i haven't seen around here sent me a run down of his story month by month:

from HairLossTalk.com:

MONTH 8-11 : this is when I saw noticeable restoration of the hair that I had lost during my shed. maybe those hairs were finally getting as long as the rest of my hair so they started to contribute to the overall appearance of density. This is when I first saw results though that I liked.

Had another few sheds at month 11 and 1.2 years, etc .. that were less noticeable... rode them out ... then even keel from 1.6 years and on.
