It was rampant in pride; EVERYONE was juicing.

I have heard from someone in a position to know that the biggest problem wasn't steroids it was EPO.

Isn't Dan henderson on record saying that 95% of pride athletes were on juice? That's if my memory serves me correctly.

Most of the Pride fighters were Pretty Ripped, and looking at their workout videos, there's no way in hell you get that huge doing the insane kind of cardio/functional work that they do. I'm doing a strict body building routine and while im making gains, it's nowhere near the level that they're at. Now i know they're professional atheletes but the insane ammount of cardio work / light weight workouts that they do simply doesnt make you that massive, i just dont buy that MOST of them aren't juicing.

my point exactly. I just dont see how a boxer/fighter that is supposed to spend 8+ hours a day 7 times per week doing the most strenuous types of cardio work ...... boxing, punching bags, running, jumping rope besides all the other types of martial arts they have in their trainings.... judo, wrestling etc etc....all cardio

HOW CAN someone who trains this way...(the way fighters are supposed to train) get those massive muscles you only see in bodybuilder types that juice.......?

same thing with Evander Hollyfield when he beat Tyson.....it was just ridiculous the insane amount of muscle he had and cut to extreme...

the argument they give that fighters are being closely monitored by the las vegas/nevada...blah blah (insert exact name) sports commision or whatever its called...... makes me go....HUH? what is that exactly? isnt this a business? isnt it in the best interest of the owners of this thing to have the most impressive and appealing fighters to attract ratings and make this outfit grow?..........

this fights are huge in Asia from what i hear.....Hong kong especially.......... fixed sports capital of the world.

question: Who owns this thing?

I saw once a reality show one day while flipping through the channels and it was about UFC guys..... from what i remember..... they all bowed to a couple of thugish looking (brothers? maybe)....who said they where the owners of UFC.....(so im guessing they are the face to public promoters of this business).... so they manage the fighters and promote their events and then sell the production to TV channels and PPV?....(kinda the same business model as the WWF?)

I am not putting down the athletes.... hell if my life depended on it and this was my whole carreer i might have to do as others do too.... they are tough men no doubt.

Thuggish? These guys are billionaire business owners.

Lorenzo to the left, Scott to the right.

UFC is owned by the Fertita Brothers who own a lot of casino's in Las Vegas. The UFC is run separately from the Casino's and to avoid a conflict of interest they don't show events at those casino's owned by the Fertita's.

Day to day the UFC is mainly run by Lorenzo and a guy named Dana White.

And no...these fighters have their own agents. The UFC says we want guy A to fight guy B and the fighters or agents either accept or not. This is a real sport and for the love of God its nothing like WWE.

true.... not even comparing the two.... one is a family show and mixed martial arts is a dangerous sport with real athletes.... what I wanted to know is if the business model was more or less the same....

thanks for the clarification Cassin.

Oh business model? Oh well absolutely. No doubt about it.

Traveling shows
Pay Per View
Brand Name

Its very similar. Its just a real sport of course, as you said. The WWE is an extremely successful business model once you put aside the nonsense.

Even the production is similar. UFC sure loves to use the good ol 'gladiator cage fighting' shtick to attract the cretins.
