Fatigue On finasteride But Normal Energy On dutasteride?

I've been noticing some posts regarding this. It seems that some people got severe fatigue from finasteride(either from depression or lack of energy) but no sides in that department while on dutasteride.

For a while I thought the fatigue from finasteride is a direct result of inhibiting the most potent male hormone in your body, but then I realize that several people mentioned that though they got fatigue from finasteride, the sexual sides weren't too bad. Well in the first 5-7 years I was on finasteride my erection and libido were always okay. They only turned to sh*t after the fatigue got more and more hardcore (which is natural. You can't be craving for sex when you are depressed and lethargic)

I got moody, unfocused, and very lethargic on finasteride. Here I was the whole time thinking that I was golden because I didnt have any sexual side effects and was having great results. However it hit the moods and my energy levels like aton of bricks. My grades started slipping and, like brasileirao, I would LITERALLY fall asleep at my keyboard. Once I discontinued use I was pretty quickly back to normal. I will be starting Avodart to "experiment" in hopes that it will not cause the same or other side effect.

Andrea, sounds identical to me. I am on it 6 months and hairline is gone and whats left at front is diffuse and continues to get worse. I have been on dose twice per week as hair/skin was very dry on full dose. No sides but increased libido. Hearing you are 6 months ahead of me makes me think I really should stop as its not going to get better.

I have stayed away from topicals except for a couple of times but I couldn't get on with it.

finasteride I do get v tired on but 0.25mg per day is o.k. so maybe i'll go back to that.

Like you I do not want to give up on meds as then its a give up after a year of treatments and all been a waste of time.

Has anyone been on dutasteride a year gone all downhill and then saw a turnaround after this..if anyone has then would be possible wehave some hope.

He was on finasteride and got fatigue. Went on dutasteride with no sides but increased libido. Too bad he seems to have accelerated his loss with a reflex hyperandrogenicity. He had more posts about his experiences but I'm too lazy to paste you can check his posts if you will.

This guy got brutal mental and sexual sides from finasteride but less on dutasteride. He got some headache and brainfog from it later though.

I had more posts in my mind but these are the only two at hand.

I know it sounds really delusional to think that you would have less sides from dutasteride when finasteride already fucked you up, but it'd be interesting to have some discussion into this phenomenon. People with relevant experiences please chime in!

All we have to go off of is the studies. Using anecdotal reports such as these to judge whether one has more side effects on one than another is unwise. Studies show that side effects in all sexual side effect areas are higher on dutasteride than finasteride. I am not sure whether brain fog was a side effect documented, but I imagine it would be the same. There are always going to be unusual cases where people have an usual response. Everyone's body reacts a little differently to different drugs. In general though you should expect a higher chance of side effects on duta than finasteride.
