finasteride doesn't work as well on older guys? I've not heard that one before. I'm no expert, but from reading the many accounts, the drug's efficacy seems to be more down to the individual rather than age.

The one thing I've wondered about is whether there's any evidence to suggest that finasteride (or dutasteride) loses efficacy over time. So if a 25 year old was getting great results with it, is there any evidence to suggest that he can't still be getting great results at 45?

It's a huge misconception that rapid hairloss cannot happen when you are older. Losing a norwood a year is devastating after you built your entire adult identity with a thick Norwood 1.5 until you were 32. Oh and a bonus - finasteride doesnt help on us older guys that much.
It helped me in 3 months.
