Facial Water Retention From minoxidil

This has got be one of the most ironic side effects from minoxidil.I mean whats the point in having great hair if your face looks like rosie o'donells.Has anyone actually figured out a way to beat this side effect without stopping minoxidil?

I even only use minoxidil once a day in the morning.I was thinking about using it before bed instead, so i could maybe sleep off the facial swelling? Or would minoxidil half life be too long for this?

Does anyone know whether or not these side effects continue if you switch to the foam?

I had this problem last year, started it november 2006, side effects came february 2007, got pissed off with it so discontinued with it in april 2007. Never gone on it since. This was when I was using the regular 5% rogaine. But I'm looking for other alternatives along with my propecia to help restablish some of my hairilne.

sharpshooter ive heard its worse with foam,Im switching to 2 % twice daily instead of 5% once.

Don't use it in the evening. Many people wake up with bags under their eyes anyway and minoxidil can make it worse. Use it earlier in the day when possible. Use it on a dry scalp. Don't use more than the suggested 1 ml. Switch to 2%. Use once a day only. Give it a few weeks/months to see if your body adjusts. Take a natural diuretic (B6 etc) if you think it helps. Thats all I've got.

i have found the only thing that works is eating a very low salt diet.But who the f*** knows how much salt is in anything.Its too much of a f*****g headache.f*** rogaine.

Drinking more water can help too - just don't overdo it.

Yeah,Your right.I actually forgot to mention that when i used half a ml of 5% which would be 2.5% (i had shaved hair) I didnt really get any water retention,It seems i cant handle 5%.I just ordered some kirkland 2% for women off ebay.Man if a woman can handle 2%,I probably can too.Ill let you know how it goes.
