Hi

I just recently stared minoxidil and I want to experiment with different brands and types (foam, solution...). Is it detrimental to switch from one to the next day to day? Or since they all have the same active ingredient it doesn't matter?

I'm sure some of you have done this before to find the best brand and type, could you share your experiences?

Thanks.

minoxidil is minoxidil, but its the extras they put in it that may make a diff, ie the vehicle, extra add ons like azelic acid.

best bet is to stick to a brand that can give you a consistant supply, that tries nicely and doesnt irritate.

you can switch brands and types to find the one you like. It wont be detrimental. Most 5% minoxidils will have same active ingredient unless they add something like azelaic acid which the label should state. However, they can differ in inactive ingredients and amounts.

I started with rogaine topical solutions but scalp was itchy so switched to foam. I might go back and try kirkland minoxidil since its quite a bit cheaper but if the itch is still there it looks like I'll be stuck with the foam.

I heard the only thing maybe not to do is jump straight into the minoxidil 10% 15% solutions. I heard you should build up to that by starting at 5% then going up to the next level for some time like 6 months amd and longer and then going up slowly.
