your thouhts... heres an excerpt from the web page...go to the page and click on the equol link in the middle of the page

SOY EXTRACT ISOFLAVONES WITH EQUOL REDUCES DHT

According to new research published in:

THE BIOLOGY OF REPRODUCTION©

Soy Equol offers substantial benefits to men and

women suffering from pattern baldness hair loss.

USA researchers have found that Soy bean extract

solution contains a molecule & nutrient which can

prevent the adverse actions of male hormone DHT

linked to hair loss, obesity and prostrate cancers.

This research pinpointed a natural substance called

Equol, produced in the intestine during the normal

digestion of soy extract isoflavones. Equol molecules

then ‘lock on’ to the hormone DHT, a destructive

by-product of testosterone which is now linked to

hair loss, obesity, cancer & prostrate enlargement,

preventing it from miniaturizing hair follicle growth.

SOY EQUOL EXTRACT & HAIR LOSS

Organically 100% safe soy equol isoflavones (as apposed to urinary metobolite horse urine

extract equol which has been medically classified as ‘not for human consumption’) prevents DHT, linked to prostrate growth, from functioning without effecting normal testosterone levels, thus

avoiding the major side effects of hair loss chemical drug based growth treatment products like Propecia (finistride) & Rogaine / Regaine (minoxIdil)

Countries such as Japan with traditional diets ultra high

in soy have significantly lower levels (45%) of prostrate

cancers, obesity & hair loss pattern baldness problems

than other western, middle east & third world countries.

yes, ive have also done some research on equol and it looks VERY VERY interesting to say the least. Equol attachest itself to DHT and stops it binding with the hair folicles. So your dealing specifically with the problem wher as with finasteride your attacking an enzyme that makes dht...in theory there should be less side effects. I'm personally gonna wait until the FDA or similar makes a statement about is effective neess to prostate cancer and male pattern baldness before i decide to add it to my regime or not. Until then its finasteride and nizoral for me. :freaked2:

However Not all japanese or for that matter asian people have soys as a staple part of thier diet. Some do and some don't and some have a litle bit of soy. The long term consumption of soy as a staple part of their diet MAY do something, but don't keep your fingers crossed because soy only helps produce equol in a certain number of people. Not everyone.

About how many % of people could produce it, I think It was more then 50%.

im not even sure there is equol in soy anyway....i think a product in soy combined with one in your body helps produce it.

Yea, equol is produced in the body when soy is digested but not everyone produces it.

As far as I know, only 35% of the population can produce equol from soy. It may change a little depending on the amount of complex carbos people eat, which may aid in the digestion of daidzein into equol. So the best bet is to take pure equol, but I have know idea where to find that.

sad to say...3 months and nada...i also was taking fluridil...no progress at all with that either

In my humble opinion a natural fue /hair transplant session is our best bet for the future

Multiflora guys are the same kind of scamers as everybody else over the past times.

The only significant substances that appears in mulitflora formula which has anything in common with equol are isoflavons.

As a matter of fact many people respond to isoflavons positivly even if applied topicaly, despite the fact it has nothing to do with equol.

It is due to its different characteristics which are not officialy discovered by now, but known within the groups of some isoflavons researchers.

Here is one of such articles.

Down-regulation of invasion and angiogenesis-related genes identified by cDNA microarray analysis of PC3 prostate cancer cells treated with genistein.

Li Y, Sarkar FH.

Department of Pathology, Karmanos Cancer Institute, Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, MI 48201, USA.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths in men in the United States and for many years the treatment results for metastatic prostate cancer have been disappointing. Our previous studies have shown that genistein elicits pleiotropic effects on prostate cancer cells; however, its role in invasion and metastasis has not been fully elucidated. In order to better understand the precise molecular mechanism(s) by which genistein exerts its effects on PC3 cells, we have utilized cDNA microarray to interrogate 12558 known genes to determine the gene expression profile altered by genistein treatment. We found a total of 832 genes which showed >2-fold change after genistein treatment. Among these genes, we found down-regulation of 11 genes (MMP-9, protease M, uPAR, VEGF, neuropilin, TSP, BPGF, LPA, TGF-beta2, TSP-1, PAR-2) and up-regulation of two genes (connective tissue growth factor, connective tissue activation peptide), which are related to angiogenesis, tumor cell invasion and metastasis. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, Western blot, and zymographic analysis were conducted to confirm the data of microarray at the level of mRNA, protein, and biological function. The results were in direct agreement with the microarray data. From these results, we conclude that genistein down-regulates the transcription and translation of genes critically involved in the control of angiogenesis, tumor cell invasion and metastasis, suggesting the possible therapeutic role of genistein for metastatic prostate cancer. Thus, genistein-induced alternations of gene expressions may be exploited for devising chemopreventive or therapeutic strategies, particularly for chemosensitization of metastatic prostate cancer to existing chemotherapeutic agents.

As you can see isoflavons downregulates many genes which we can also suspect to be responsible for the balding process.

One of which is TGF-beta2 which is known to influance hairloss.

If you want to save money prepare your own isoflavons water-based mixture & you will find out if it works for you. I suggest you 3 isoflavon capsules mixed with 50 ml of water.

It works for me personaly, but I faced some side effects unfortunately.

cheers

wow! majkellos you're stiil alive?

What kind of side effect do you suffer from?

There were some limp dick phenomenon which happened to me every time I sprayed even a little dose of isoflavons mix on my crown.

It felt like isoflavons which, while evaporated through the skin, were capable of blocking LH hormon suplier that stands very close to the crown area.

That's why I felt like my testosteron was gone.

Honestly I prefere isoflavons oraly but only in the form of my diet regimen, but only a very little dosages.
At the begining of my diet I was focused on building strong bacterial bodyflora just to prepare as solid equol vehical as I could only imagine.

Right after that I realised that my body produce great amounts of equol transformed even from a little cup of miso soup. I only eat it twice a week because no more is required.

I am also focused on downregulating my body cholesterol. It also boost the power of my hair. Keeping low cholesterol means that you transform only a little testosteron to DHT.

In the near future I will get rid of soy isoflavons and will focus on my cholesterol control which I expect to work great separatly.

But if you want to discover the power of nature, you would have to change your general attitude. I am afraid this is not possible in your case pal :)

Correct would be: What kind of side effects do you suffer from?

So, as I understand you're gonna put away your isoflovone therapy and go for low cholesterol diet. It is because of side effects or lack of efectivness?

Hi Majkellos. I was searching for a urgent conntact with You. I’ve been looking around many forums for some time.

I think that our balding theory has much common. I seen many times that You greatly understanding how complex the problem might be. The DHT therory has many holes in it, but sadly most people won’t see that at all.

Today we have very potent 5-alfa reductase both types inhibitors that can inhibit it's conversion to DHT for about 80-90%. We also have some potent androgen receptor downregulators and still nothing has change. The problem for many seems still far from solving. But not for me. I think that I already know where the bell rings.

The genetic is only one part of the puzzle. We should remember that the body is a very complex mechanism and all hormones are dependent from each other. Unfortunatly much evidence that insulin, cholesterol and male androgens are connected is overlooked. I studied a lot about how they are connected and how we can manipulate them naturaly.

High insulin = high cholesterol = high androgens levers = high speed of balding

High glycemic food is that what’s ageing all about. Fed a rat in low caloric, low glycemic diet and he will live 2/3 time longer.

And have you ever seen the diffrence betwen pigeons that live in cities and those who live free. The city pigeons in contrast to those that live freely suffer from overweight, diabetes, cancer and feather loss. How it’s possible? Have white breed feeding something to do with it?

Lower your insulin levels or lower your cholesterol levels and you will see that androgen levels lowers also. Lower them both and you boost your results. Actually some true health problems based on androgen hormone imbalance (example:pCOS) can be easly solved only by regulating insuline resistance with drug’s like metformin.

I personaly tested metformin on myself 5 months ago for 2 months in combating my balding. I was amazed how well it worked! The reduction was almost comparable with moderate doses of 5-alfa reductase inhibitors.

Now Im pretty sure that you can gain results comparable or better to finsteride naturaly by :

-inhibiting secretion of androgens.
-inhibiting 5-alfa-reducatse both types.
-efficiently inhibiting androgen receptors.
-efficiently lowering insulin resistance
-increasing SHBG levers (to conect free testosterone)
-inhibiting the conversion of estrogens and nonactive precursors in active androgens.

The are only few research that support this theory. But the farmaceutical companies saying nothing about it because they can’t sell you a healthy diet. Where’s no money – there’s no motivation.

I have already created a special antiandrogenic suplementation plan + diet designed for people with hormonal problems that yielded some great results in 2 test grups made up from 18 of acne sufferes and 21 persons that suffer balding.

I’m impresed that some polish top specialist also working on this problem: Kolodziejczyk B, Duleba AJ, Spaczynski RZ, Pawelczyk L. z Uniwersytetu Nauk Medycznych w Poznaniu showed some interesting resarch.

Also Sahin I, Serter R, Karakurt F, Demirbas B, Culha C, Taskapan C, Kosar F, Aral Y. w Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases, Faculty of Medicine, Inonu University, Malatya, Turkey shows some interesting results.

P.S. I won’t excuse me for my english like some do, because I’ve lerned it only for one and half year, even so it will hurt no one - I think.
