equol has lowered a man's DHT to less than normal Male range

"I received the results of my total DHT test back today. My serum level is 7.6 ng/dl and flagged as low. The report says the normal range for an adult male is between 30 and 85.

My SHGB was 35.3 nmol/L with the normal range for an adult male between 19.3 and 76.4. I wanted to check my SHGB levels b/c Equol also binds to SHGB...........and SHGB is a good thing as it binds to DHT and testosterone. But my SHGB appears to be very normal.

I will post my Free DHT levels once I receive that test. Approximately 1% of DHT is typically the amount that circulates unbound according to this link:http://www.questdiag....erone_Free.pdf

So equol appears to be doing it's job as the research indicates that it would and the product appears to be the real deal. But keep in mind that I am taking 48 mg 3 times per day for a total of 144 mg per day. I have zero noticeable side effects except for fewer wrinkles around my eyes. It definitely has a positive effect on your skin.

Also, keep in mind that these results don't necessarily mean that this will have a positive impact on either maintaining or regrowing some hair. But I will let you know once I am confident enough to make a call one way or the other!"

the nice thing is that Nature's Sunshine who manufactures this 'equolibrium' supplement, unlike the now defunct "Folexen", is a legitimate nutraceutical company:

60 caps costs 50$, one caps contains 6mg of equol, he takes 144mg per day so 24caps, which means 12 bottles of equol per month ... So he buy 600$ of equol per month or did i miss something ??

Anyhow, bubble bursted—hes a finasteride user of 15 years! Other guys are catching on and some want to reproduce his experiment, and a couple of them don't use finasteride. Let us hope they post their tests.

Yeah finasteride is way cheaper and those tests are complete garbage if he is using anything else like of course, finasteride. Again finasteride does the exact same thing and what evidence is there huge amounts of equol are safe to use long term? Propecia much better idea until we get some topical

finasteride has been in the market for 20 years. equol is new on the scene available to the consumer as of this year, so of course it is expensive.

i agree that getting the blood work done if using both finasteride and equol is a waste of time.

Just an update -- I've taken the second blood test, so I should get the results probably on Monday, September 29.​

he's using 18 mg. i really don't know if that's enough to have any impact, but it will interesting to see.

They are indeed not doing the exact same exact thing: finasteride binds to the enzyme that produces DHT (among other things), whereas equol binds to DHT (with no effect on the other hormones as far as we know). Of course this is only relevant to people who get side effects from finasteride. If that's not you then by all means continue to ignore equol.

Im just curious how equol binding to DHT as you claim would be any safer or different from what finasteride already does? Not to mention everything has been studied in detail on how finasteride works and to what extent it does. Equol has almost nothing known about it. Why take some random thing when something so proven and effective already exists? I dont see the logic why equol if it works at all would not produce finasteride like sides.
Hey though if you believe in magic maybe equol lowers DHT to stop male pattern baldness yet the lack of DHT causes no problems at all

it has to do with the fact that equol isn't going to mess with neurosteroids inside your brain, and it might not change your estrogen to testosterone ratio. but sure we really dont know what high doses would do, but all the research thus far indicates that its safe. look into whether ausio has completed their prostate trial. id expect that to have more useful information. hopefully they do free DHT measurement
