Honestly could be either way. You need to take a picture with the exact same conditions. Your hair in the second picture is not the same as the first. Either the light or it is more greasy. When the hair is more stuck together you will see your scalp more. If I had to make a decision I would say it has receeded a small bit.

As someone going through diffuse thinning with long hair it’s pretty clear you lost some density. I’m wondering if tying back the hair plays a role in accelerating the loss through mechanical stress. I never had any loss and can loosely correlate the start with the time I grew my hair out and needed to tie it back.
