Easiest Uts Cleaning Method Using Ghostbond

hi and sorry if this has already been answered, tried search feature here ( which isn'T very good) and couldn't find answers.

I have decided to try a UTS system. Enjoy it very much, pretty good hairline. I used ghostbond , all good except the cleaning of the thin skin. i used alcohol, but spend lots of time removing glue boogies, rolling up, etc..

hairdirect has a dipping solution (protouch thin skin cleaner) which I wonder what is the main ingredient. Their video shows the glue just rolling up under water, looks super easy clean up ! Anyone know if it's alcohol or citrus solvent based ?

thanks for tips on cleaning UTS. I dont want to use tape as I am afraid of ripping thinskin.

Hi @AxC123. On my UTS I use a white glue similar to Ghostbond. When I attach the system I use only 1 layer of glue, or very occasionally 2 if I feel I need a stronger hold. I re-attach every 10 days or so, which is why 1 or 2 layers are plenty for me. The less glue I use, the easier the clean-up.

I don't use any product when cleaning the glue off. After 10 days I find that most of the glue remains on my scalp and is easily scraped off with a finger, tissue, and dishwashing liquid. Any glue remaining on the UTS rolls off just by using my fingers - this does sometimes take a little bit more effort/force. I then clean the (underside of) UTS with dishwashing soap, and if there is some stubborn glue I will use 99% Isopropyl.

There's nothing else to it really. I do find though, that if I try to de/re too early, then the glue is really sticky and difficult to remove from the UTS. I still follow the same routine as above, but it takes more time and effort.

I never soak the system, just haven't had the need to.

Thanks, but in my case , detaching every week and glue gets on the thin skin. I see that ProTouch product ingredient list (attached) mentions citrus distillates. ..will try adding that to water soak solution

I also noticed using fewer layers is best. 1 or 2. The glue sticks to my head rather than the base.

I'm talking about a lace base though.

What's left on my head after removal though is TOUGH to remove. I feel like you have to use oil & manually remove it.

C-22 is just bonafied baby oil IMO.

Of everything I've used to remove, mineral/baby oil has been best.

As far as removing from the lace base, alcohol works well, as does, believe it or not, hair conditioner.
