Hi, I need some help with my current situation with my hair and the possibility of losing it.

The only two people in my family tree (that I know of) that are bald are my dad and his dad. My dad starting to lose his hair around 21-23 and went bald pretty soon afterwards. He had dark brown thin hair but had it pretty long (style at the time I think). Now, I'm 21 and have light brown hair which grows very thick on the top, I usually get comments about that when I get it cut, but I've noticed in the last 2-3 years the corners of my hairline have moved back a bit (not up just back). But I'm starting to worry about going bald like my dad. My mom thinks I'm just paranoid because my hair is thicker them his ever was, but I can't help but think otherwise. It's not like the classic M shape receding hairline its more rounded. But the fact that the corners have moved back has me a bit worried for what else might change in the future. The top of my looks bushy though, but it still be early.

So I was just wondering what you thought and if you could share your experince and what you think is happening to my hair. I could just be paranoid, but the fact that it hit my dad so quick so young I'm sure you can understand why.

Thanks.

I don't think it has anything to do with my lifestyle really. I try to keep myself health (gym etc). Looking at some photos of me from about 2-3 years ago I've had these corners of baldness then too. So I would of thought it would spread more by now..:/ I checked your link and like you said it's probably best to check with a doctor or something. When looking last night, I also noticed I've still got some of my blonde hair there from when I was a kid too! I don't know whether it's baldness or just me going a bit mental. I think the problem for me is nowone else seems to have these corners which are set so far back.

Freakout's a clown. male pattern baldness is basically caused by genetics. All you can do to slow it down at the moment is to reduce DHT either in the body or near the follicles.
