Doesnt it mean if you are having to start treatment at a younger age because of male pattern baldness, you are going to be worst off long term even if you are on treatment because it started earlier or is that not true?

Its more about what year you start. Now we have better understanding of hair loss and im 100% sure that before 2020 we WILL have some new meds for us.

Yes I am a teen and hair loss has devastated my life. Life sucks pretty bad. I am scared to start finasteride cuz I am too young to do so. Will start minoxidil soon. Yea I am from India.

This is true. Early hair loss tends to signify aggressive pattern, but again it may not. It's all largely unpredictable.

When people say start treatment early they mean the first time you notice your hair loss, whether you are 16 or 30. As once the miniaturisation process takes hold it can be hard to reverse even with meds. Of course the 16 year old would most likely have really aggressive hair loss, maybe meds will give him an extra decade or two. I am not convinced they could indefinitely halt hair loss.

By your late 20's most people can see their final pattern of hair loss, so even though you haven't lost it all yet, you can see the final "shape." This is true for most male pattern baldness sufferers but not all.

Thing is my hairloss has stabilized and im not getting hairs falling out in the shower anymore. Surely if you respond decent to finasteride and minoxidil that can prolong your hair for a while even if you have an aggressive male pattern baldness. Saying that im almost 24 and still only a nw2, friends cant tell I even suffer from male pattern baldness so I don't think I have aggressive male pattern baldness. But saying that I was speaking to my pharmacist and he said just because you lose hair early doesnt mean ot means you go bald earlier

Which goes back to your point wolf pack, hair loss is unpredictable and can stall for years on end, or you could be unlucky and go nw7 at 21 like exodus did

Naah my hairloss isnt thaaaat aggressive. I lose about 45-50 hairs a day. That includes shower, combing and daily routine activities. I would rate the state of thinning as 7.5/10. I still have a norwood 1 hairline with only a very slight recession on the left side. I have ordered minoxidil and lets see how that works out.I have a moderately thick beard. But I havent devoloped all the body hair and stuff. So until I mature completely, I am staying away from finasteride. I hope minoxidil buys me 4 years atleast.

Exactly bro, you just don't know. A family member I know lost hair for the first time when he was 38, by 44, he was bald like Norwood 6. Now his male pattern baldness started late but for sure it was aggressive. I reckon if he had used meds he would have been okay though. Clearly his hair could withstand DHT all that time although no one really knows exactly how it works.

If you're responding well to the medication that's a good sign. I'm 29 and apparently you can tell your final pattern at this age. I am Norwood 2.5 but some thinning in the crown under certain light. I'm not convinced that would be my final pattern but without meds the thinning/balding would stay in that area for a decade or so the way I am going. Either way I am on finasteride as not gonna risk it.

I should have started at 24, but I went from NW1.5 to 2.5 in like 6 months! I don't think I could have stopped it.

Exactly... so long as you have a decent hairline you can fool your everyday person. .

Unless you have bad thinning all over. My hairline is not great but combing it down no one notices anything. From your pics I think your diffuse thinning is not noticeable to every day peeps.

i wish i wasn't so obsesssed about hair.. very depressing when I think about it
but i guess its also good that i care about hair cause i care about the way i look..

being bald for 9.9999/10 guys makes you so much uglier
from a 7/10 to a 2/10
only black guys can get away with it cause their hair colour=skin colour hence the bald look doesn't look that bad

god hope theres some better treatment coming in 5-10 years

I'm same as you and older too with that type of thinking - it's reality though sadly. My friend is black and he is thinning but he goes he will just shave it off. Definitely decreases your attractiveness.

Recently went to a petrol station with 2 of my diffuse thinning friends. We all walked in and I noticed the woman cashier had her eyes fixed on one of my mate's hair. The black guy is a diffuser but buzzes to 1 so it's not a big deal and she didn't pick up on it much or didn't really care. The white guy is a diffuser and she was staring big time, was so obvious.

Its really sad that as you lose hair you become uglier to women. Its just worst for us cause we are still in our youths, stikl in our 20s and 99 percent of girls expect a guy with a thick head of hair at nw1 and as soon as you dont meet these requirements especially with really good looking girls you have 0 chance unless somehow in your 20s you're a millionaire, but how many people are?

The worst thing I experienced was last year when I let a girlfriend run her hand through my hair as she did the same with my friend who has "thick hair" and when she ran her hands through my hair she grimaced and just said its not as thick as my mates hair.

Really hit home then that in your 20s girls want a decent looking guy and going bald or being bald is an instant deal breaker. I wouldnt give a **** if I went bald at 35 but at 23? So ****ed

I look at all my friends and I only have one friend who is noticeably balding, but he has a long term gf so in regards to women it doesnt matter that much. Just sucks when you have 30 to 50 guy friends and you are the only one with receding and thinning at such a young age. Really has dented my self esteem and confidence and I can only imagine what the likes of those suffering worst aka exodus, fred, etc are going through.

There has never been a worst time in history to go bald especially in the western world, as we live in an extremely superficial world

I'm gonna hit 30 next year but looking around I don't think that suddenly changes anything, especially the type of girls I normally get attention from. Possibly when you get closer to 40 some hair loss is acceptable. Your gf is not cool dude, shouldn't publicly do things like that. Hope you put her in her place at the time. It's like if you felt up a girl in front of her and said it's better. I know it's not exactly the same but still.

Chin up mate, you are doing well with the meds, keep fighting.

It is a superficial world and attraction is an innate thing. We can't fault girls for not liking bald guys but any hurtful comments are when it goes ott.

Hair loss just tore my self esteem apart and has led me to chronic depression. I havent been genuinely happy since this **** has taken over my life. I am so ****ing young. I am 18!!! Like seriously! Hair loss according to me is one of the worst punsihments given to mankind. I cant take finasteride. I am hesitant to work out cuz it just speeds up my hair loss more and more. I feel that we have all been deprived of our youth and happiness. I am trying to push people away and become more and more unsocial.
Anyways, I wish all the guys out there good luck with the treatments and just hang in there.
