"Dutasteride is three times more potent than finasteride inhibiting the type II enzyme and 100 times more potent than finasteride inhibiting the type I form of the DHT producing enzyme. Dutasteride is not approved by the FDA for the treatment of Male Pattern Hair Loss and is approved at a dose of 0.5 mg a day for the treatment of prostate enlargement. While both the type I and type II enzymes are found in the hair follicle, there is a recent study which shows that type I is present in the human brain. The function of this enzyme in the brain is still unclear."

Can someone please point out why some people choos dutasteride and some finasteride , why finasteride is more popular and explain to me the results users have had with dutasteride.

Well, basic logic would reveal that more people use Finasteride since it Is approved by the FDA as a hairloss treatment and is much more known of than dutasteride for the above reason. Side effects of dutasteride I would guess would be more common and worse since it's a stronger med as well, and given the nature of the potential sides of finasteride, my guess is that it would act as a deterent from using dutasteride.

There are plenty of threads discussing and comparing them both in the "Antiandrogens & Androgen Blockers" forum, so just go and browse through the topics and draw your own conclusions. There seem to be a lot of mixed opinions of them.
