Theoretically, you could get a prescription from your doctor, if you could convince him or her to prescribe this medication (indicated only for BPH) for your male pattern baldness. That might be hard to do. On the other hand, in the years when Finasteride was indicated only for BPH and not yet for male pattern baldness, I understand that many people were able to convince their doctors to write Proscar prescriptions. All depends on your doctor's level of knowledge, willingness to take some risks, and whether you come in the door with the relevant studies to show.
