dutasteride once a week

can anyone advise? I am also going onto 0.5mg dutasteride once a week, along with my regimen below - do you think this will help or just a waste of time? i m scared of sides and also heard it blocks a second type of dht receptor in the brain!

if it were me id save myself the hassle of finasteride every day then dutasteride once and instead take dutasteride twice a week. :dunno: personally.

i have started taking dutasteride once a week, i might increase to twice but we ll see what happens....

I have noticed that everytime i take dutasteride, i get a headache after 10-15 mins....

shedding is also less since i started dutasteride once a week....

headaches are a sighn of hormonal imbalance, on once a week of dutasteride your hormones are prob jumping all over the place. you might have notices some acne as well. The key with changing your hormones is to keep it level thats why once everyday balances it best, when your once a week its gona bounce all over the place. i know this because of taking steroids, if you take em 3 times a week instead of one your side affects are a lot less.

I think taking dutasteride only once a week should be considered the absolute ROCK-BOTTOM dose that could even possibly have any degree of effectiveness. Much better to take a minimum of twice a week, in my opinion.

Phish is right on the spot..they key to low side effects while maximizing hair maintenance is to have a constant hormone level at all times.

The body will have difficulty adjusting to varying level of hormones and side effects will be felt if you use it only once a week. And I doubt that it will have an impact on your hair.

I tried different dosage at times but eventually I found that once a day, taken at the same hour, is the best trade-off between sides and hair results.
dutasteride is safe, it has been found to prevent prostate cancer and I have been taken it for over 4 years now.
Most of the people who had side effects did stop the drug before the body could adjust to it, this can take a few weeks.

i have added dutasteride and take it every 3 days.. take finasteride 2 days and then dutasteride the 3rd day. i think that will be a good boost to my regiment.
+ i have kirkland minoxidil at night with 6 dutasteride caps in it for some topical dht blocking. and then foam in morning, nizoral every 3 days.

Looking at the DHT concentrations from a single .5mg dose of dutasteride, I would hypothesize that taking it 2x a week would be more beneficial by keeping DHT inhibited levels constant.

dutasteride once a week and finasteride every other day is working for me so dont want to change because of an hypothesis...

might try it if i feel i need more ammo!

to be honest i am only taking dutasteride once to reduce side effects, decrease dht as dutasteride is supposed to be more potent and save money as i am skint....

from reading other threads it seems most people get Dutas by Dr. Reddy's bought at either inhouse or United.

It seems like its working greate for me 2 taking it every 3`rd day.
Lots of new white hairs springing out, got no sides yet after adding dutas 3 months ago. and i think its good to have the option too boost the regiment if i need it later.

no still doing 1 x week... have to admit i am a bit scared to try 2x week as i dont want it to all go wrong and also because you never here anyone saying anything good about dutasteride...

my hair is still thickening up (although at a slower rate than before) so dont want to want to f*** it up...

i am actually starting to question what is actually working and what is not!

I think it makes sense to definitely skip a day after taking dutasteride before taking finasteride. dutasteride has a higher binding affinity to 5ar than finasteride, and combined with dutasteride's longer half-life I don't think taking finasteride on a subsequent day would make much difference.
