dutasteride Blood Testing

Hello!

I was on finasteride for about a year and switched to dutasteride about 9 months ago. I'm 24 and haven't had any blood testing. I'm a little hesitant to tell my doctor that I'm on Dutasteride, since I get it from Dr. Reddy's and thus don't have an Rx. Any thoughts on how doctors usually take this? Should I be getting bloodwork done pronto?

Thanks!

Yo, am totally knew to this site and also new to posting. However I am a med school student and I can tell you this much about your problem: if you didn't/don't have any side effects I'd say don't stress about the blood work. However I would at least mention it to my doctor on the next visit. Dutasteride isn't yet officially approved for hair loss, so at least give him a heads up about using it. After all it is a bit more powerful than a regular 1 mg dose of finasteride. If your doctor is a good guy and not a douche he will understand. I know I would at least. Although I'm not really sure where you say you're getting the dutasteride from, over here in Europe I haven't heard of anyone prescribing dutasteride as a baldness treatment.

I'm thinking of going on propecia, why'd you switch off it?
