My update..

I have been on dutasteride for 8 months.

No improvement, still haven't recovered from the initial shed.

Depressed.

Same boat, except 2nd shed. Its been like this for almost 4 months so I think its due to other factors (minor changes in regimine) b/c follicles shouldn't be "dormant" for this long, unless something bad is going on.

I know the dutasteride can only help, regardless of how severe the shed is. Its the lack of regrowth of those shedded hairs that has convinced me I need to get my regimine back in order.

Very important topicals to my earlier success were minoxidil FOAM (not this Spectral crap!), Tricomin, Retin-A, and (possibly) spironolactone cream (on temples/hairline).

the first pic is of me at around 5 months of dutasteride, I had shed a lot in the crown and was still shedding.

The second pic is 8 month.

These pics are much different from eachother, I took a thousand of my hair and some look better at 5 months and some letter better at 8 months. I am just posting the pics so you can get an idea, I do not believe there is any improvement and that any improvement that someone might see if just camera trickery.

Also, before anyone recommends using minoxidil or any other topical.. no I can not add any topical what so ever to my regimen... my scalp is so fffucking sensitive that even emu oil fucks it up and makes it painful.

blueshard, how about adding Tricomin?

That stuff is very kind to scalps.

There is just no way that my scalp would react kindly to it.

I wish I could use at least something, but everything, even alcohol free topicals cause scalp pain and inflammation.

They do more harm than good for me.

Sucks :(

Copper peptides are supposed to reduce inflammation though? Have you tried Tricomin/another copper peptide spray? If not I would take a chance, it removed all the itchiness etc for me :)

Emu oil and other topicals that I have tried haven been anti-inflammatories. It doesn't matter I still get a bad reaction from my scalp.

I think you have some slight improvement. Give it a few more months. You have nothing to worry about, mate.

Oh, and of all the topicals, Tricommin (expensive, it may be) helps the scalp. There is no chance of irritation with it.

I have to actually say that I agree with Otis on this one. Your hair definitely looks thicker in the second picture. Could be the lighting/angle I don't know, but it without a doubt looks better than in the first pic.

My scalp was sensitive too and I was breaking out, but oddly when my ALC/ALA ran out things began to clear up. Dropping that for a while might be something to test out.

i also think your 2nd pic looks better. you gota understand for most people just being able to mantain and slighty thicken up is huge progress, if i were you Id be happy with what you got and maybe in future you might recover even more hair, but by no means is dutasteride not working on you from the pictures.
