I've been on propecia for 2 years and I appear to be a non-responder. I'm considering Dutasteride. My questions are, where is the best place to get a cheap generic version, and also if anyone else on here has used this drug any insight u could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks-

Dutas

http://www.unitedpharmacies.com/

United Pharmacies is quick and reliable... Less than 2 weeks for delivery... The more you buy the lower the price... If more than 20 packets of #10 (200 pills) Dutas (generic avodart from Dr. Reddy's in India, a large pharmaceutical company ) the price is a dollar a pill... Not giving them away and nowhere near the bargain of finasteride, but still more affordable than name brand avodart.

Only 2 weeks, so much too early to judge... It is a huge pharmaceutical company so I trust it as much as any generic, and I have heard posters on other boards report good results with Dutas. My only concern is that these overseas/internet pharmacies will be shut down. United Pharmacies would probably not be the first, though, as they arent supplying narcotics (which would probably be targeted first).

Not for nothing but it when it comes to putting a drug in your body, which could turn out to be a long time of putting this drug in your body, why would you go for a cheap generic type. Why not try the real stuff first and if that works go to the generic??

Just my opinion.

If money were no object i could only use Avodart and not have to think about it , but there is cost... Avodart is about 4$ a pill at United Pharmacies... You could get it cheaper, but still more than 2.50$ a pill. With Dutas selling at 1$ a pill it is hard to justify the higher price if you believe that it is the same chemical/active ingredient.

Dr. Reddy's (makers of DUTAS) is a huge international pharmaceutical company (supplying many drugs, including HIV meds) and I am comfortable in the belief that their product is similar in composition and potency. Posters have reported good results with Dutas, here and on other boards.

Regarding taking Avodart first and then switching to Dutas "if it worked" that just delays the delima... Either you believe in the intergety of Dutas or you dont. As dutasteride may or may not control hair loss (any brand) for me, and as there will be good and bad hair days anyway it will be impossible to judge (using my head alone) which company's drug is better.

Doctor Evil -

Makes sense! Money is always an issue, I'm actually switching to Proscar now - splitting it in 4's to save money. Good luck and keep us posted. Just an opinion is all, what you say makes sense. I mean I suppose if it works then you switch to then real thing, that would just be another delimma.

I noticed you are taking Tricomin. Has this worked. All's I have ever taken in Propecia ( about 6 years now ) I am thinking of adding Tricomin or Revivogen, can you give me your opinion of Tricomin? Don't want to start minoxidil yet because I will be stuck using it for the rest of my life.

Thanks Bro.

I have tried them all Avodart for 90 days, Dutas for 200 days and now Duprost for 100 days so far. I have seen no difference on any of them they have all done the same job! :)

Well, here is the only piddley small study (12 people in each group) on tricomin... http://www.regrowth.com/hair_loss_confe ... esults.cfm

Users were slightly more likely to say their hair was the the same (rather than worse) after 6 months with tricomin, and hair counts were much better than placebo after the study. Small study, but positive results. You have to judge if its worth it, as there are no big or long term studies. I just started, so I cant say if it "helps" but i like spraying the blue stuff on, it tingles and feels cool, and it makes my hair look better (unlike rogaine).

Regarding taking things forever ANYTHING that keeps hair on your head will have to be taken forever, as NOTHING "cures" the tendancy to male pattern baldness. If it doesnt say "take it forever" but it is working, you shoud still "take it forever." Just my opinion : )
