Hey,
Well Ive pretty much decided I dont wanna take finasteride anymore. So ive been researching other topical dht inhibitors. Ive been reading about revivogen and spironolactone lotion.
To the people who use one or both of these instead of propecia, are these products easy to apply?
Have you experienced good results?
Will it leave hair looking messy or as if ive put gel in it?
I am also using rogaine foam and nizoral 1% and wouldnt have that much time to apply too many things in the morning so I will probably just go for one of these products. Can anyone reccomend one over the other?
Also, I will probably start nizoral 2% too.

Any help greatly appreciated
Thanks

Oh, also, ive been reading on the revivogen site that it says to apply it to the balding and surrounding areas. Surely though, if its a dht inhititer, you would want to use it all over the top/front and crown? Especially if that is the pattern in your family...

How come you're stopping finasteride? I'd recommend staying on that. I was on it for 2 years and quit. I started taking spironolactone and minoxidil. I've had some good results with spironolactone but it's a pain to apply more than once a day. I only use it once a night. But, I would say it's a wise choice if you're getting off finasteride.

Stopping because im too paranoid about sides to continue also, I posted in the side effects forum about an "ED incident", which has happened twice since then. Also, no morning wood anymore lol. Dont want to take any risks with it really.
Do you apply spironolactone all over the top of your head? and do you use the cream or lotion. Does it smell as bad as ive heard some people say?
Thanks

Yeah, I dont really want to risk any serious sides so im looking for another topical dht inhibiter. Cant seem to find anywhere to buy spironolactone though?

Im about a 3 or 3.5, not exactly sure. I dont think anyone can deny that finasteride is effective, but I just cant take the risk. Ive been far too paranoid since I started it.

have a few questions:

How long have you been on it?
Has it been effective for you?
Have you seen sides?/Did they stop?

i have yet to get on anything...finpecia is coming in the mail but im returning it...i might get on propecia because I MYSELF am comfortable knowing that im getting it from a USA pharmacy.

i dont need minoxidil yet...just something to maintain myself

probably spironolactone and a good shampoo/therapy spray

Ive only been on it about a month and a week so I havnt noticed any effect on my hair. As for sides, well there have been a few occasioins where I havnt been able to get an erection with the girlfriend and also no morning wood for the last three weeks. Its possible that its all in my head but id be more inclined to think its due to finasteride becasue of this wierd feeling ive been getting. When about to have sex, it would feel very much like im erect but, when I look down, its not at all. I found that very unusual so im putting it down to finasteride. Also, ive been really tired since I started it.

I dont want to put you off the idea of this medication as its completely possible that its all in my head as ive been worrying about sides since I started. In fact, I think most people who read this would say its all in my head and they may well be right. But the fact is, Ill never be able to relax on this medication untill I know for a fact that permanent or long term sides arent possible. Ive been stressing too much about it the past month and that cant be good for me.
Also, im takeing finpecia not the brand name propecia. Also, Im on the foam and nizoral which I will keep and hopefully find an alternative topical dht inhibitor so I can stop stressing

There's a few topicals as an alternative such as spironolactone Cream, Topical dutasteride, Revivogen, and RU (which is the best of the bunch, and possibly greater than Propecia/finasteride, but it's quite expensive and not easy to purchase). As far as the application process, spironolactone Cream is inconvenient to use if you are let's say a diffuse thinner or have quite a large area of hair loss. And you need to apply it twice a day. Revivogen, it's easier to apply than spironolactone, you only need to take it once a day, but it takes like 3+ hours to dry. Topical dutasteride -- I have no idea about. And RU -- I'm not sure about it's ease or difficulty in use. But you can easily find out here, as there are at least a couple huge threads regarding RU.

Anyhow, I've only been using spironolactone for a little over a month now. So far, I'd say it's been effective.

This sucks! I started taking finasteride yesterday and I woke up this morning and had no results! Guess its not working. I should quit finasteride anyhow, if you take it too long you can never get an erection again in your life.

Thanks, I will probably go with spironolactone Cream Or Lotion. But, I do lose hair all over the top of my head and only now, started to notice that I may be diffuse. Up till now, I only noticed my receeding. So im not sure what is the best route to take.
