DR Reddys Generic Finasteride. Do not go near this product.

My local pharmacy stocks a different generic brand of Finasteride every few months and since I began treating hairloss (almost 23 months ago) I have experienced not one, not two, but THREE bouts of intense shedding where all progress has been lost in a short space of time. For the record I am a genuine hair loss sufferer (currently NW2/3vertex) - not one of the influx of NW1's with a mm of hair recession posting threads asking "am i going bald" that have been bombarding this forum recently!

I finally realised the other month that EVERY TIME this shed has come on it has corresponded with a me being sold Dr Reddys Generic Finasteride.

I dont care what anybody says, regardless of what is "theoretically true" on paper... I am certain that different brands of generic Finasteride will have different effects on different people. I understand the API is the same but you have to consider binding/releasing agents and other chemicals that may differ.

The only finasteride I took for 50 days was Dr. Reddy's finasteride. I was shedding **** loads of hair and never saw any improvement. It could have been just part of initial shedding phase, but I was scared to death. I've seen a few complaint posts on Dr. Reddy's finasteride actually. Some people argue that finasteride is finasteride, so nothing is different, while others say Dr. Reddy's finasteride is not the same as others. If I ever go back to take finasteride, I would most likely get proscar instead.

Yeah, there are tons of complaints towards finasteride in general.
Finasteride is finasteride. What else does it contain?

This isn't always the case. Not saying this is true with Dr. Reddy's but the statement in general is not true. My brother has been on Reddy's for 6 months and seems to be maintaining fine and regrowing a little.

That being said, when a pharmaceutical company like Merck releases the patent rights, the other drug companies can make a similar product, but it isn't exactly the same. Sometimes the generics work better, sometimes they work worse. This is because drug delivery is complicated. The INACTIVE ingredients can play a role as to where in the body and how well the ACTIVE ingredient is absorbed. <--- this is the answer I got from my friend who does cancer drug delivery research told me

So although finasteride is finasteride, the amount that you could be absorbing into your body could be affected by what brand you take. Some people seem to not be able to absorb Reddy's finasteride as well as other brands.

My personal experience, I took 0.5 mg of Activis finasteride (Costco's finasteride in my area) and holy damn that **** worked. I waited 7 days to see how my body felt each day, and by day 4 the itch started coming back. Today is day 6 and I have full blown AIDS, err, I mean DHT itch. lol

Damn, next time if I decide to get finasteride, I will get it from Costco, not from Walgreens.

unless you are going to prove it by getting a blood test while on dr. reddy's I think it is irresponsible to come on here and make people paranoid about a product when it is likely all in your head

No you are the one who is irresponsible and says that side effects of finasteride post use of the drug goes away and sometimes they don't here if proof that Merck lied about it brah http://imgur.com/qKSEtK5
