Dr Reddy's Finasteride

Hi everyone,

This is my first ever post on this forum, and I was looking for some advice regarding finasteride. I just got my prescription the other day after about 5 months of waiting due to both procrastination and fear of side effects, which I have come to realize doesn't even come close to comparing to my fear of completely losing my hair. Anyway, I was expecting to be given Propecia, but instead was given Dr Reddy's Finasteride. I am certainly not an expert, but I have read a lot of bad things on these forums about this brand of finasteride and was wondering if anyone could offer me any advice on whether or not I should take it. I plan on being on finasteride for the long haul so I think it would make sense to stick with the same brand throughout the process. I don't mind paying the extra money to get the brand with the better reputation, if that is the case. Also, if I were to decide that I would rather just hold off until I can get the name-brand Propecia, how would I go about making sure that I get it instead of the generic? In other words, do I have to go back to the doctor's office or can I just call? Or would I go to the pharmacy and ask them? Thanks for any help!

Well you do have a doubt about it, so I would first ask your pharmacy if they can give you propecia.

Dr. Reddy's is reputable and if you are receiving it via a legit pharmacy in US than it is 99.99% chance of being real

Thanks for the replies guys, I guess what I'm trying to say is: is there any chance that Dr Reddy's as opposed to Propecia will cause something horrible to happen as some people on these forums claim it has? Or are they just Merck employees trying to scare people into buying Propecia? Strangely, there don't seem to be many threads on this forum regarding Dr Reddy's.

What? The scare stories has to do with all types shapes and forms of
finasteride. It has to do with side effects. Though rare it
can still happen. But so can getting struck by lightning. Or getting in a car crash

If you simply google "Dr Reddys Finasteride", the first few links are almost all negative reviews of that specific type of finasteride. I am very well aware of the scare stories associated with finasteride in general, but in this instance I'm only referring to the stories regarding Dr. Reddy's as opposed to Propecia. I will post a few links below for reference. I just want to be as educated as possible before I take the medication so that I know I am giving myself the best chance at results.

people who complain about generics are probably just paranoid. As long as you get generics from a legit pharmacy you should not be worried at all it is the exact same as propecia. You might get sold fakes from some online pharmacies, but they will also sell you fake name brand ones too
