Hey guys..

I just to share my experience with a certain type finasteride..

I was late 23 when i started Propecia (am now 25), i started with a quarter of a 1mg tablet and gradually worked up to 1mg with no side effects at all apart from the small shed.
Anyway it was expensive to buy at about £50 roughly for 28 tablets.. but to my delight i discovered my dad was being prescribed 5mg finasteride for his enlarged prostate.. he was getting them free, so he would give me a box which would last me 140 days!

anyway... hair loss completely stopped, my hair got thicker, confidence grew etc etc.. it was almost a total success (if only my receeding hair line disappeared, but it was enough for me to not give a **** about hair loss) - i was very happy with what the drug was doing.

Anyway i went back home to get a refill and noticed that he had a new branded box called Dr Reddys Finasteride.. I've been taking it for 40 days now and have noticed a massive shed along with my hair feeling thin and crap. Nothing at all has changed in my routine except this different brand which i don't trust. I've read other people have had the same issue with switching brands.

I know in theory it should make a difference but definitely IS making a difference and not one that i'm pleased with.

I've already put a prescription in for Propecia with my Doctor, so just waiting for this blasted bank holiday weekend to be over and i'll go and pick it up and get straight back on the branded Propecia !

I'm not saying this would be the same for everyone but i just wanted share my experience encase anyone notices a change in brand

:)

Call a nearby medical lab and tell them you would like to get a blood test there. It shouldn't be very expensive, especially compared to having to buy name brand forever. Multiply your registered DHT level by 3, and if this number falls in the normal range of DHT levels than the finasteride is working as it is supposed to. If you multiply it by 3 and the number is higher than normal DHT levels, than you know the finasteride is bad.

Thanks for your advice ZZZZZ

I've since started on Propecia again but to my absolute horror i found a small bald patch on the back left of my head about the size of a £1 coin or slighly smaller..

It was by total chance i discovered it, i was looking to cut the back of my hair (as it's fairly long) and saw it in the mirror.

I really don't know whats going on because i'm sure it wasn't here 2 months ago as my girlfriend would have noticed it and said something and said she never noticed it.

I really don't know if it's because i switched onto Dr Reddys or Alopecia Areata.. either way has made me feel quite down. I really hope propecia fixes it as i am going through a shed at the moment which is also hard but i just hope it's propecia beginning to work again as it's what happened before.

I worked out that i took Dr Reddys for 50 days as i used 10 of the 5mg tablets split into 1mg a day roughly.

It was going so well before i started Dr Reddys, i'd rather pay the full price of Propecia now on than experience this again.
