I went to the Dermatoligist and he has me using a 7.5% solution of progesterone once a day, applying directly on to scalp. Is he crazy or what? I guess i should've asked more questions about how it is supposed to help, but i haven't heard of anyone using this for hairloss? Thanks for any input???

How about some background info bro?

You can't just throw out that without telling us why and whats going on with you.......

Well all I can do is assume a few things from your post and offer limited advice..........

1. your a guy right?

2. You aren't going to give birth so progesterone is not probably good for you.

3. You must have commented about some sort or irritation to your doctor right? If not than your doctor is wrong and hurting you in the long run and way off base. This is common in the hairloss area.

4. Topical steroids are very bad for you in the long run.

5. If you have male pattern baldness, drop that stuff right now and read this forwards and backwards and then ask whatever your confused about.

6. Redo number 5

7. Redo number 6

I've heard that progesterone (USP) MAY work for hairloss treatment, i dont see any problem on it, but i think this dosage (7.5%) is too much.. if the recommended dosage for men is about 10mg/day for the entire body, for the scalp 2.5mg should be good, let's suppose 2.5mg/ml, that would be a 0.25% solution.. but who am i? talk to him man.. ask about finasteride/minoxidil...

I do not remember where but do a search on it because someone else said that they were using it and that it destroyed their hairline. Wish I could help more but a search should lead you too your answer.

Sorry about the lack of background, but for the last 2 years I've been on and off rogaine, trying to stick with it, but I started having some scalp irritation (wasn't aware of nizoral). Anyways, i mentioned this to the Doctor, and he then prescribed me with progestrone to be applied to the thinning areas. I have an appointment with him in a week, I've been on this progestrone stuff for about 3 months now, but haven't seen much. Anyways, thanks for the input guys.

Ok now we can devise a good plan. :)

I have had massive irritation from Minoxidil. To avoid typing a very long post give this thread a read ok? http://www.hairlosstalk.com/discussions ... 02&start=0

I hate to keep tossing you to old links but they can help in certain situations.

Ask away whatever you need after this or send me a PM if you prefer.

The short version? get on Dr Lees Minoxidil which has little to no irritation.

http://www.minoxidil.com. His regular Minoxidil.
