From his skin biology forum. Thought you guys might be interested in taking a look. He actually recommends saw palmetto oil. A lot of people on this forum seem to be really dismissive of it...
Dr. Pickart said:This is our basic advice.
There are a number of approaches that may help hair growth.
1.If your scalp is irritated, the best would be to use the Emu Oil for Hair on your scalp in the morning and Folligen Cream or Folligen Lotion at night. Start the products lightly then use more with time. Folligen Cream is thicker and works best on hairlines.
If not, then use Folligen Solution on your scalp at night followed by Emu Oil for Hair. Again start with a small amount.
2. Minoxidil is often also used. Apply the minoxidil first and let it dry for 5 minutes, then apply the Folligen.
3. Also take daily supplements of MSM - 2 to 4 grams - and flaxseed oil and borage - 1 gram each.
Supplements of saw palmetto oil may help - 80 mg daily - but back off if you get enlarged breasts.
4. Use a minimum of shampoo and conditioner. Shampoo only once regardless of what the bottle says. Folligen Shampoo and Conditioner are mild and contain SRCPs.
5. Keep heat off your head - blow dryers can boil follicles.
6. Sometimes new hair growth can push out older hair shafts and there may be a brief period of hair shedding as the new hair shafts push out the old dormant hair shafts. Old, non-growing hair is held in the hair follicle for about four months before falling out.
